Can you help tell me anything about this buckling?

I found a Lamancha buckling today and he looks promising to me...from a CAE negative herd...dam just tested negative in May. Anyway, his sire is Southfork PS Colorado with registration number is 1465726. I looked it up, but I don't know what I'm looking at! His grand sire was Toi Soldier, who was the 2011 national grand champion (according to the email I received when I inquired about him).

I asked for pictures of his dam's udder, so I hope to get some soon.

Can any of you a find info and decipher it for me? If so, I would be most thankful!

I have Alpines, and I don't know much about Lamanchas. South Fork seems to be a well known herd name.
Since they do not show bucks at ADGA's National Show......it would be interesting to find out what organization sponsored that show were he was a national champion.
I looked at his progeny.......they seem tohave a herd name of "Peaceful by Chance." I checked this years ADGA Directory......that did not seem to be in their list of registered herd names.
There seems to be some linebreeding (I like linebreeding)......Toi Soldier, a son of Charmer (a Redwood Hills buck) bred to Black Satin, one of his grand-daughters.

I like his background on his grandsires side. As for this buckling himself?? Have to judge based on what his sire has thrown and the dams side. Could be great. Could be a lot less than great. If not bred well, great genetics can be watered down in just a generation or two. Do you have a pic of the buckling?

I totally agree with this.....over the years I have seen some pretty sad looking animals where one half of their pedigree looks great.....but the other half is not so great.......and I have seen some animals that don't seem to look like their pedigree would seem to indicate.

For me, I am much more interested in the dam and her pedigree than I am with the sire......that may be just me....

No, not just you. Usually the biggest indicator of the type of udder a buck will throw is his dams udder. So its the most important thing to look at, really. And his dams dam, and so on.

Can't drum up much on the dams side. I don't recognize any names till way back in her pedigree. Isn't always a bad thing though! Udder pics should be telling. Are they sending you body shots as well??

I didn't ask for that, but I will. They just replied that they are milking the dam and she gives a bit over a gallon a day. They are bottle feeding the boys.

Yes, I would. As important as that udder and milk production is, if the body isn't there for years of healthy production, its only half of a good thing.
Milk production sounds good, she is a young doe if I remember correctly?
Will the buckling be big enough to breed this fall?

Here are the pictures they just sent.

To my very untrained eye, it looks like the dam has nice escutcheon width, but her actual udder looks to be more divided than it should be. Perhaps I just don't know what I'm looking for. It also looks to me like she might have a case of staph dermatitis. What do you folks think?

As you can probably tell from the pictures, there are two bucklings. One would be wethered and would come along as the buck's buddy. They were born in May, so I'm thinking maybe ready to breed by November or so? Which one looks better to you? I know they aren't posed pics, but maybe you have an opinion. I like the one by himself in the pic, but that's just because I like his markings!

Please tell me exactly what you think. But, remember, I'm in this for milk and not for show.

Nice looking doe. Her medial looks pretty good to me. I don't think there is too much delineation, between the two halves and the teats are delineated well from the udder floor. She is a nice angular doe, with a long rump, and pretty nice top line from what I can tell from the pics. I can't tell what kind of foreudder she has or that much about shoulder assembly from that pic. Looks to have some rear leg angulation but not really sure about that either from the pics. My .02. If your milking by hand that is about the right size of teat IMO.
