Attracting a buck (deer)

If I have a nubian doe in heat would it attract a deer buck? The other evening Iwas out in the field when I saw a large buck about 75 feet from me. He just stood there staring at me. I tried to scare him off, yelling, raising my arms up and down, and finally waving a jacket around. He never moved. Now I am getting nervous having this six pointer stare me down. He started to take a few steps toward me then calmly turned his back to me and strolled off. The next morning I saw him back in the field. Would my nubians in heat attract him? Hope he's around come hunting season.

He's probably just curious. If he's a white tail, he won't be interested in breeding for a few more months but then he'll be too busy chasing his own does to worry much about her.

He probably didn't move when he first saw you as deer have a prey instinct to either run or stand still and hope they can't be seen. Once he felt like you were'nt a threat, he probably got curious about you too before deciding to meander off.

I'd say you got a treat that many of us spending time in the woods can only hope for!

That has not been an issue for us here in the deer infested Ozarks.

We have a lot of whitetail here & never had a problem with them & my goats before.

Come hunting season, don't worry all you'll have to do is make 1 little noise by accident & he'll be gone! We got a couple nice bucks, 1's an 8 point still running around in velvet that I'll be looking for opening day!

I once had a goat buck who, when the deer does around here were in heat, he'd be at the fenceline, "talking" to them and trying to encourage them to come closer! He'd probably have tried to breed them if he'd gotten the opportunity!

Is that goats your talking about? mine just ate my apple trees, my blueberries, raspberries down to the ground and all my strawberries. I'd rather have the deer most days.

Thanks all. Was curious. I've never had one that bold and was wondering whether he was getting ready to attack me.

Aww, sorry. We've been there. It is very discouraging. You can have the best fence in the world but the little monsters will watch and wait for their opportunity to eat your favorite plants
