My Nigerian won't shut up!

It is now 9:45 and she is still hollering! Last night I went out at 2 am to yell at her. No it didn't do me any good but I had to be at work by 7 am so at least it made me feel like I tried! SHe is with the herd 24/7 and this has gone on for a month straight! It reminds me of the Nubian I had that never shut up. They need a bark collar for goats!
I love everything else about her. I lover her size, her sweet creamy milk, her sweet personality but I HATE the constant hollering! Can they de baaaa a goat?!
Grrr

How long has she been doing this? Did she just kid in the past few weeks? I have noticed my girls (even the LaManchas) get MUCH more vocal after they kid while hormones are still running high, though not to the extent of your gal. Hope your girl quiets down soon for you...if not...well there is always .

I got her over a month ago and she has done it since she arrived. Her kids were pulled day one and bottle fed and that was 3 months ago. I like your idea of beating her over the head, I can tell you that's how I felt at 5 am when I had to get up. Her screaming might force me to fix the roof and doors on the barn at the opposite end of the property.

Does she have a friend in the herd? I would think she's still trying to find her old herd. This is the reason when I buy a goat I try to get two at a time from the owner. They seem to relax better. Hope she chills out for you.

You might try putting her in a crate at night, IN the lounging area where the other goats spend the night.

Duct tape. It should only take a roll or two.

Newbies- that was a joke...

Has she buddied up with anyone? Fulla screamed forever when I brought her home. I'm like Donna, I like to buy multiples so they feel more comfortable when they get to my house. Plus, that gives me an excuse to buy multiple goats. Maybe you should call her breeder and see if they'd sell you one of her friends. Or two. Then they can all scream.

You can use a bark collar on a goat. It even works on children. And, no, I did not test it myself! My DD tried it out one time. Said it shocked her when she talked.

Maybe she is afraid of the dark. Do you have a night light?

Have you asked her old owner whether she was so vocal at her old place?
If not, I might try to "force" buddying up by isolating two of the girls together, away from everyone else. Sort of force them to look to each other for comfort. If they do bond, then re-introduce them into the herd.
Or maybe you could buy a buddy from her old herd.
I have no idea if this might work but maybe a radio playing there at night?
Or a last suggestion- ear plugs. I've been forced to use them at times and they do work. (For you I meant- not the goat. )

Maybe that's why she was sold.

I'm going to try the force buddying technique. She seems to like Spice the best. We do keep outside lights on to help keep the coyotes away so she can see. Before I bought her I went to the breeders house on 3 different occasions to play with Macy. I never heard a peep out of her. If the buddying technique doesn't work I will try Crating her in the pen with the others. She is a great goat otherwise. I don't care if she bellows during the day but I need to sleep eventually and s She also wants her grain and milking done when she wants it, and no one is going to change her mind. I milk right before bed so her belly is full and her udder is empty.
