swollen testicles

4 year old boer buck. No fever. No heat. Not hard. Just started out looking like one side was bigger than the other. now both sides are looking larger. I have been researching Orchitis (swollen tesitcle) for several days and can only get a few causes. #1 may be that its just a bunch of sperm ready for breeding. But even though I have does in with him, he just sniffs. No blubbering, or other acts of love that I have seen. #2 could be brucellosis, but I think that would have a fever ????? He is CAE and CL negative.

Any ideas?

Mpete I sure hope you find an answer. When it's hot I notice they seem to drop more but what you are describing doesnt sound like it.

I'd test for Brucella. And move him away from your other goats. If it is brucella, it's untreatable - and the rest of your goats are exposed. Mercks doesn't say anything about a fever.

Merck Veterinary Manual

Merck Veterinary Manual

There are blood cultures or blood ELISAS for Brucella. ELISA's are fast. I'd call WADDL to chat options. I know other samples can be submitted for culture testing. Be sure to indicate on paperwork that you're looking for Brucella - It is enhanced biosecurity for lab workers.

Is he still eating and drinking, and moving around? Mine done that and I never did find out what was wrong, but after 7 days of penicillin shots he got better.
