Another close one!

Stormy is healing very well, other then that ear, he looks fine unless you look very close.

But then, today, I hear a goat bawl and look out to see poor Stormy running towards the house, being chased by two of MY dogs! I remembered the neighbor saying that it was my dogs and not believing her. DD saw out another window and starts to scream that they are really after Stormy and we both go tearing out the back door. I am almost in tears because I think I am going to have to shoot my dogs, I can't believe they would do this!

The trio dashes towards us, Stormy bawling, dogs barking! Stormy runs to us for protection and the dogs run yelping into the house and I see

..
..
..

All three of the dopey gits had gotten into a yellow jacket nest!

There followed several frantic minutes of swatting, stomping, towel waving and yelling, and poor Stormy was stung several times. He is not having a good week.

But he is thoroughly fly sprayed and eating now, and the dogs are in hiding and not wanting to set foot outside, actually, not even out of the bedroom, though Judd did finally come out from under the bed.

It's five o'clock somewhere, right?

O my gosh! Poor babies! I was dreading reading your post because I thought it was going to end with you putting your dogs down. While I'm sorry they were attacked by yellow jackets I'm glad it didn't end worse.
I would keep an eye on them in case they need Benedryl. My doe was stung by yellow jackets I'm thinking because we found a nest by the pen. She had an allergic reaction that resulted in her having her baby prematurely.

Oh, poor Stormy! Can you give him some Benadryl?

So, the dogs weren't chasing him, but running with him to get away from the yellow jackets?

Whew!

God, I hate yellow jackets! They are aggressive and mean tempered and I detest them. Where I used to live, I had tons of them; in fact, they killed all my honey bees - wiped out an entire hive. Here, I don't see that many for some reason (thankfully).

Anyway, I'm glad they weren't really chasing Stormy; I hope everyone recovers from their encounter with those evil, evil things and that they're not too terribly traumatized.

Hehehehehe- Stormy wasn't being chased- he was just faster. Such a funny story.
The poor babies- I feel so sorry for them, having been in that position myself.
But I can't stop laughing at the twist of plot in your story.............

Yellow jackets are horrible. Mine have been stung three times this year. Poor babies.

Rub the stings down with vinegar- soak them good. It will take th sting down and reduce the swelling. Ask me how I know! I got attacked mowing the lawn and I don't run as fast as the goats or dogs! Vinegar took the pain away completely within about 10 minutes.

I believe that I once achieved actual flight after stepping in a nest of those buggers............

Oh, poor babies! Our dogs once disturbed a bumblebee nest when I was a kid. They came bursting into the house as my mother was stepping out the door. One dog ran and hid under my bed, the other one was mad as heck, he was biting and growling at the bees. My dad had to go around killing the bumble bees that got in the house.

So glad that it wasn't the dog's fault!!!! Stormy has learned to run like heck and let someone else get zapped for a change!

Whew! You scared me half to death!

So glad they are all well - and that, as Cliff said, you didn't shoot first!

Yes, everyone was making a mad dash for the house and safety with yellow jackets on their bellies and ears.

They stuck to Stormy the most, because on the inside of his hind leg he has a scab from the bad bite he had there. No infection, but it's still draining a little and the yellow jackets just kept zoning to that spot!
But he was ok, he didn't swell up or react to the bites, and seemed soothed by the CutHeal we put on him.

Pony - I swear it took a year off my life! And I'm so glad I decided to run out and grab him, instead of running for the gun. It was close!

What a fright!

Glad it turned out to be a mad dash for safety with the goaty in the lead. I imagine now that you realized it wasn't actually life or death the scene with them hauling butt for the house would have made an excellent comic strip scene.
