I Have Caught The Spotty Goat Plague

I worked a friends herd yesterday, copper bolusing and hoof trimming. I am so accustomed to working my herd by myself and they do not have horns, so usually I just straddle each doe to trim hooves, copper bolus, worm, etc.
This herd is cashmere and meat goats. And they have horns. I just straddled them, did my thing, and on they went. A few got some good jabs in with their horns as we struggled to catch them. I was wearing jeans, and sure, it was a mite uncomfy when one poked my leg, but I didn't think a thing of it. We worked about 30 head.
Today I pulled my jeans off after a long days work, ready to crawl into pjs, looked down and did a double-take. My legs, from upper thigh to mid calf, are spotted with perfect quarter-sized blue, black, grey, purple, yellow and green spots. Yes, I have, albeit temporarily, caught the Spotty Goat Plague.

How pretty! A rainbow of goat love. Shorts should be fun for a while. I hate my horned goats for the same reason.

I get the same sort of plague with each year's bottle babies, except our strain of the plague presents as a billion little hoof shaped bruises all over my legs and back from them jumping on me!

I opened this thread expecting to see new spotted goats but at least you had some pictures handy of spotted goats after all.

That is an awfully handsome buck. I can hardly wait to see your next spring kid crop from him.

I am glad you didn't get hurt worse. I'm sure none of them meant to hurt you & probably all nice goats & not used to someone straddling them. Your friend will have to get some kind of stand or milkstand for the next time you help out & you guys can get them up on the stand. may save your legs a bit of bruises.

Hurt? Pshaw! Hurt is unable to get out of bed the next day. Bruises are just the everyday average with livestock. Funny bruises this time, though.LOL!!

That website is hilarious, KrisD!

Well, I've worked as many as 800 head of cattle through rickity ranch chutes in a day. Bruised from head to toe. Interesting fact; 400 pound calves kick harder than their mothers and are just the right height to nail the family jublies.

As a final indignity one would usually somehow crap in my mouth...............
