I dowsed my goats today...

I cut up two metal hangers to use as rods to see what they would say about my doe that I have been trying to get bred. She would be at 13 weeks. I also tried it will all my other goats that I know are not bred. For both, my husband and I, the only goat that the two rods crossed was the goat we hoped was bred.
We will be able to confirm this around August 16th, 2012!!!

Donna....I learned how to do it from your video!!! Thanks!

Happy Hogger...it is a test that you can do on a goat that may or may not be pregnant...I haven't done a blood test and she looks round, but I wanted to try it and I had my hubby do it separately...interesting!
Sorry I don't have a link to Donna's video, but I did a search here on dowsing.

I can dowse for water, but I think I'll stick with sending blood off for a cheap test if it's essential to know if they are pregnant

Though I will have to try it when I breed the girls later this year LOL

I just did it this last weekend too. I used broken tomato towers. Wire coat hangers are hard to get a hold of these days.

Thank you, Alice for adding the links!
It is not imparrative that I know she is pregnant, she will be watched regardless. I am somewhat of a newbie and although I have all of the stuff and could probably to it...I am not too excited about a blood draw from the jugular on an animal that is always in motion! Call me a whimp, go ahead, I don't mind, but the answer will come sooner or later. Ya know, I'm gonna post a picture...

Here is a link...hope it works http://s762.photobucket.com/albums/x...ppymrst/Public

Silly me...always concerned with other parts!!! LOL
This is Honey's face. She is about 3 1/2 yrs old and will be a FF.
For me, the strange thing is that her udder was absolutely flat...until about three weeks after we had her bred. Now she has this little tiny udder, it was so cute. Really caught me by suprise.
This will be only my 2nd freshening :-)

If she's a FF and developing an udder, chances are very good you'll see a freshening Congrats!
