2012 National Dairy Goat Show?

My daughter left today for Loveland, CO. Thought I'd see if anyone else is planning on going?

Her and her friends are keeping a blog of their journey. Thought some people might like the link. I'm hoping they update it regularly with pictures!

My daughter is Marisa Owens.

I forgot to add Marisa will also be the Oberhalsi Ring Steward (I think that is the title?). We use to raise Oberhalsi's.

My friend with the dairy, who I have mentioned here before, will be there, too, traveling from Washington State. She has Saanens.

I hope your daughter does well and I will be sure and follow her blog.

Good luck, Marisa!

Cool! I love Saanens.

Thanks Zilli She only brought 2 goats, one milking yearling and one dry yearling. She is hoping to get into the top 20 for Showmanship!

Me, too.

I had at one time hoped to have an all-Saanen herd but it didn't work out that way. I have kind of a mish mash of breeds and crosses but I have been using her buck to breed to my LaMancha doe. This fall, the now yearling will be bred to her other Saanen buck and whatever she has will be 3/4 Saanen. It will be interesting to see how the ear and color thing plays out.

I had actually been wondering if the show was still on, given the horrific fire situation in Colorado.

They are planning to do live streaming of the National Show this year if you want to watch your favorite breed.

I will tell her! It is the top breeders so she isn't hoping for too much, just not to be kicked out of the ring would be nice She does want to make the first cut in Showmanship though.

I want that link!!! She never mentioned it so I'm thinking my daughter doesn't know about it. I'll see what I can get her to track down once she gets there! I'm going to "like" their webpage to see what kind of updates come out.

The show is moved every year by the way. Last year it was back East. I think the fires around Loveland, which is at the top of Colorado, are more or less contained (I think).

We have only LaMancha's right now but I would like to get a nice Saanen doeling. It is the only breed we haven't had (besides Nigerians, which I also want a Nigerian Buck for my first fresheners, still in negotiations with Marisa about that ).

Marisa is also going to the Annual Conference in Idaho this year (October I think?). If anyone else is going to that.

Here is the link to the livestream. Youth events begin on Saturday, July 7, but I doubt there will be any livestreaming until showmanship begins at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 8. You can find full information about the 2012 national show at 2012 ADGA National Show and I am sure ADGA will update their Facebook page throughout the week.

I wanted to bump this up. I checked tonight and they are actually keeping up with their blog.

I need to check in with them but I believe they made it to Wyoming today.

My daughter did know about the live feed, just forgot to tell her Momma! She said she was going to tell me I'm really hoping the broadcast the Showmanship!

They made it to Wyoming. They are at 7500ft right now and it's super dry. We live towards the Oregon Coast, low elevation and wet! They will be traveling today within 30 miles of Loveland to stop and shave goats and get them ready for show.

They checked into the National Show today! They updated their blog with a ton of pictures. Everybody made it more or less, one of our goats has a bad limp, so they are watching her and have her in with the kids, we'll see what happens.

Sorry to hear about your doe limping. Hope she heals fast. I looked through the pictures. They look like they are having a blast. That little baby is to cute!!!! Question for you, in the photos where there is a whole bunch of goats where is that at? I am assuming that is other peoples goats in with yours correct?

Yes, my daughter only brought 2 yearlings. She is traveling with her friends who I think brought 18. They are also caravanning with more friends that I think brought 35. They brought the double decker trailer that blew a tire, they brought 1 ton of alfalfa with them on the top deck, they are lucky with that tire! They stopped at Fairgrounds along the way.
