Not baby goats but...

Still cute!!!
Eve our Katahdin ewe gave us triplets today! Daddy is our Shetland ram but two of the babies look a lot like Winston our Pygmy goat buck's babies do....
He really has always had a crush on her.
Hmmmmm......

Here's a public link to pics of the newborns:

For comparison's sake- here are some of Winston's Pygmy goat babies from three different Pygmy mamas:
Lots of white toupees...

Nice babies!! I miss having lambs born, sometimes. A whole flock of lambs running and jumping across a pasture is a blast to watch!

They are adorable & I can see why you wonder if Winston had a little sneaky date with your ewe!

Aww they are so cute!

It is not likely Winston is the dad though. Geeps rarely survive and you have 3 healthy babies.

Okay, I am gonna ask the stupid question. Is it possible that the goat could have mated with the ewe? It works with horses and donkeys and zebras and donkeys.
Don't set me on fire, it's early, drinking the first cup of coffee and have looked up the scientific species yet or googled the possibilities........Carla

Well, Winston definitely has "done the deed" with her but I've read that goat/sheep crosses are extremely rare. I don't think that's what happened but hubby and I had a good laugh when the black babies popped out.
Went out and peeked this morning and it looks like the first born black one is a girl as is the white , and the last born is a boy. Since we got a "bonus lamb" the little black girl gets to have a name. Hubby's good with that as we will still send two to freezer camp and next year we will have even more lambchops with three ewes to breed. We just had the first taste last night of our first lamb we had butchered and it was very good. Other than chickens, this is our first home-raised meat and it feels good to know we can do it.

They are call Geeps and rarely live to term, or survive long. Sure they can mate but rarely produces offspring.
You can google it, there is info and maybe some pictures.
Due to different chromosomes Geep are rare.

Ok do not google Geep too much other info, google goat sheep hybrid:

Well we are still waiting for picture and an update on Ali which you promised days ago so where is your baby cuteness???

Steph do you have to shave these kind of sheep? I always hesitate to get sheep because I do not want to shear them and no one around here has any hair sheep. Hair sheep to me look a lot like goats so maybe that is why I like them

Eve the mama is a Katahdin (hair sheep) and she doesn't require shearing. Rambo the papa is a Shetland and does need to be sheared. We did shear the two lambs from their last pairing as they were kind of a wool/hair combo.
Both Eve and Rambo are rescues, so we didn't choose them. If we had a choice, after shearing Rambo and the lambs, we would definitely go with just the hair sheep. But Rambo is here and we love him so we will just have to deal with the shearing which was not fun....
Here he is before shearing
