I hope you will reconsider leaving. I don't know what happened, but I know that there have been times I have been hurt by some on these forums, but there are many wonderful people here. I hope you haven't let one person ruin the great friendships you can find here.

No, no, no. How about a short vacation instead? Don't leave for good. We'll miss you if you do.

mpete, it's going to be OK. Take as long as you need. PM any one here if you need to talk about anything, we will give you a call. I will!

I would not post what is really wrong on the open forum, because we have some pot-stirring trouble makers.

We will see you when you get back.

ok, now I am crying again. I thought I could walk away, but I guess not.
Remember the doe with the torn abdominal tendon? They apparently thought it was toxemia and was giving her CMPK and penicillian. A vet advised her to stop that treatment, but by then she had stopped eating. (just so you know, CMPK can reduce the appetite in a goat, and anti-biotics kill both good bacteria and bad bacteria... including the bacteria in the gut) The first time I saw her (in the morning time) was after her rumen had shut down for about 2 or 3 days. She could not get up. Her head was stuck in the corner, just "sitting" there. She looked as if she would fall over at any time, just kind of weaving back and forth. She had hundreds of flies crawling all over her. I told them they needed to get the flies away from her and they said well we put DE on her... I went to TSC and KNOWING they are very "natural" people, I looked for a natural type fly repellant and found one. I could have gone home & got a chemical type but I was trying to respect their wishes. They were giving her beer, electrolytes, thiamine, probiotic powder and something called magalox??? (I think its to keep her pooping)... Well, I was not going to do anything that would be counter productive of what the vet prescribed, so the only thing I could think of was to load her up with B complex and the gel-type probiotics because something in my head just doesn't think that a powder can contain anything live that would help such a sick animal. I also gave her a little bit of Dextose (sugar water). They called me the next day very happy because for the first time in 2 days she was up walking around.
I did the same thing the following night just for added support... Her rumen was working by the time I left. They had given her rumen juice the night before so I don't know which helped, but I was just happy we got her rumen going....
Well, she had quads last thursday. 2 live, 2 doa. They did not bring the babies in at night and both died.
Then a friend told me something that now I think I have lost a lot of faith in people. They apparently told someone that I was the one who told them to use the CMPK. They are saying a couple of other things as well...
I feel betrayed. Why help people? I spent my own money to help them and get stabbed in the back. I do not like drama .... fair was great because I was in a corner by myself with no dust and not much noise and I had a lot of people looking at my goats and I spoke with them,(my doe took 5th place but the judge said she wouldve been a lot higher placed if it had been more obvious that she had kidded and alibi took 2nd in his class!) but I kept out of the he-said-she-said crap only to come home and find that people who I thought were friends did this.....

I'm so sorry some people just suck. These people are morons! They should have said thank you for all your help and hard work. In fact I'll say it thank for your help and hard work for that poor doe and her babies. Some people just have no manners. Now you know to NEVER help them again. How rude of them, what nerve!

I'm so glad you're back! We need you here. People can suck. It's a lot easier to point fingers and place blame. How much did the finger pointer help with that doe and kids? You are an angel with a big heart. Remember that.

Good job at the fair. Go Alibi!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's hard when you try so hard only to have someone stab you in your back. BUT, there's a lot of people here who are very kind and caring, so please don't let bad experiences deny you the encouragement and comfort the people here can offer you.

mpete..glad to see you here..you scared me good!

Okay..I'm gonna say like a bazillion people on here..including me..have been in this very same spot. It's not pleasant and there's really no way to combat the people. I will say this..from my experience..people like the ones you tried to help..usually do themselves in in the end. They will do something like this to someone else and it will put you back in the right and in good standing.

I wish I had a bale of hay for every time a buyer (or person wanting help) got detailed instructions, physical help from us, our time and our worry..and either did not bother to follow instructions, listened to someone else (who usually had zip to nil experience) or just plainly blew it off until it was way too late.

We quit selling goats to regular folks..they all go to meat now. Why? Because of the things like you just described. We still sell Dexters cattle to folks..but I gotta tell ya..we had to turn down a sell yesterday because of the things the buyer was talking about. I may starve, but the cow that they were wanting to buy will not have to go to such a screwed up place. Make sense to anyone?

Come on now..admit it if you've been jerked around like mpete!

Oh, goodness. I totally understand. It just breaks your heart. HUGGS!!!

Yes, I've *given* goats to needy folks with a handbook and lots of instructions and had to rescue them back later. Yes, it's hard to mentally recover after seeing goat abuse.

Hang out with us, here.

WE LOVE YOU!
