Our new barn!

Check out our new barn.
It backs up to the pasture fence with a 6' door into the pasture on the back. I am building some 6' "panels" out of fence pickets that I can move around to make stalls of different sizes as needed. Can also drive tractor thru barn into pasture. When stalls are setup I will leave a 6' lane in the middle to walk/drive thru. I can then pull trailer in, clean out stalls and drive away to compost pile.
Front left corner will be enclosed, floored "office". So much space, I need to go buy some more stuff, LOL.

Jealous. What are the dimensions? How big will the stalls be? My husband could probably pull something like that off. Hmmmmm.......Evil plotting begins...<Sinister chuckle inserted here>

Nice Job. On the barn and on making me jealous.

andabigmac, it is an 18x20 carport. They sell around here for $695.00 installed.
I am building sections from 6' "dog ear" fence pickets from Home Depot. They are less than a $1.00 ea. I can move these sections around to make as many stalls of whatever size I want. You could also use "cattle panels". Will have inside pictures when I get the sections done.

What a great idea for a goat barn or any little outbuilding for that matter. Never would have thought of using 1 of those car ports & closing the sides off like that.
I'll have to keep that in mind when ever I need a new one in the future.

Your doing a great job too by the way & looking forward to seeing pictures of the inside when you get it done.

That is awesome! I keep looking at those carports thinking they would be a quick inexpensive starting point for a barn.

HA! I had a random thought the other day while trying to sleep about making a barn out of a carport like that. Thanks for letting me know it would work!

Looks absolutely fantastic, and would love to see the inside when you get it done

Thank you for all the kind words! So far it has worked out great. Glad the photos are giving everyone some ideas (that's why we're here, right?).
I've been on the tractor mowing pastures all week so this is the first time back on here. Hope to start working on the inside Friday, so may have more pictures by this weekend.
Ranger, our farm is in Tamassee, I drive thru Six Mile often, small world LOL.

And I was wondering how it was 'installed'. How are the metal support posts connected to the ground.....concrete footings?

Thank you so much for the idea. I was trying to figure something out for 3 barn/sheds that I need here on the homestead. I am also curious as how you attached the 1x6.

Thanks

Ok may stick to the 1700 one since I don't have alot of time to build and this way when its done it will be ready for me to use. With 3 Doe's in milk I need to get them moved and setup quickly, not to mention revamp my fencing

its so pretty, too!

if I ever get to design a barn, I would be certain at least a skid steer could go in it. I am sick of pitchforking alllll the used bedding, and its never going to be different due to my barn shape. another reason I had to downsize numbers. and it gets pretty nasty at time due to time. having a way to clean it out better/faster would be awesome.
