2 month old

My 2 month old doeling is acting a bit "off". I gave her the final dose of round 2 cocci prevention today. I got a bit sidetracked on that because my dd got married and things just got hectic right before the wedding. She didn't seem to be feeling bad before I started the prevention this round. I noticed a day or two ago that she sort of stood off by herself but would eventually come around. It seems her eyelids are a pale pink. My valbazen is outdated (and looks it!) and my other alternative is safeguard, ivomec or herbal. I went ahead and gave her some safeguard yesterday. Today she seems to be straining to poop. A bit of liquid (like a teaspoon of water almost) will come out but I haven't seen pellets. I gave her some probios. What else should I be doing? baking soda?

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed as I woke up with a migraine and realized today would be the day that my little dog would pass away from the cancer she was diagnosed with last week . She passed away a few hours ago and I'm honestly just not thinking straight. I sure don't want to overlook something with this little doeling. I can get out tomorrow for wormers or other meds that you all suggest.

Sorry, no advice because I'm still rather new at goats, but my condolences on the lost of your dog.

I am so sorry about your dog. It always seems that things come all at once.

What is your doeling eating? Have you taken her temp?

Have you given her any dewormer other than safeguard?

Cathy, she is eating hay and still nursing from Momma. She eats a small amount of grain but I don't think she had any yesterday (I didn't feed it, not because she didn't want it).

I have not taken her temp and no other dewormer except for the safeguard. I've read that ivomec shouldn't be given under 6 months old. I didn't realize my valbazen was outdated until I went to use it yesterday.

Sounds like she could be constipated the way you describe her straining to poop. Is she on a bottle or dam raised?
Not saying something couldn't be going on with worms as well but maybe a little of both.
I would give her Vit. B also. Can't hurt her even if she doesn't need it but it will help give her a little boost.

We all must have been posting at the same time.

Do you have any Cydectin or Quest? I don't give Ivermectin to young kids either but I would give the Cydectin.

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet dog & friend Jill. That is always so hard. Big Hugs coming your way.

Oh sweetie I am so sorry about your dog. I would agree with backfourty and say it sounds like she is constipated. Is there anyone around you that could bring you some wormer?

I'll get out tomorrow and get some wormer. I actually thought I had some Quest but can't find it anywhere. I just checked on her and she seems good. Her tail wasn't in the up position like it was earlier. Maybe the probios helped soothe her tummy a little bit. This is one time I wouldn't mind seeing a messy butt LOL

Here is our princess that passed away today . Her name was Lucy

Oh she is so pretty - I am sure that your heart is heavy.

You might give your doeling a pinch of baking soda in her mouth. I agree with the B12 shot too.

Your little Lucy is precious & I know she had a great home with Tons of Love & your daughter is beautiful as well.

Hope your doeling is feeling back to herself today. Have you seen her poop yet or does she still seem to be strainingto go?
