OT how much would you pay?

As some of you know I had a brain tumor as a child and now cannot drive due to seizures. No licenses means no job... so... I am trying to make some extra money at home to help support my goat addiction. My mom and me are both very crafty type of people and she has made these but only really for herself. We have no idea what to list them at. So any thoughts in what you think.

They look pretty cool, like those shadow cowboys but much cuter.

How much does it cost you to make them? Not counting your time, but just in materials and how long does it take to make them?

It takes a couple hours to do it and I can get the whole family done for about 25 to 30 dollars.

For a family I'd be willing to pay about 50$ if I found these at a fair or a livestock show. I'd look for ways to cut costs with bulk buying if these take off. I know you can only tell so much from pictures but these look very neat and cleaning done. I am seeing more and more 'shadows' in people's yards out here in Rural Georgia. I hope you can make these work to help ends meet!

Oh my heck I know just where to put them. Are these just for local sale? How would you ship them? Let me know when you figure out a price. I like that all three of the babies look like doelings. I think they would bring doeling luck.

Maybe you could sell the pattern to people out of the area if shipping is cost prohibitive. I'd rather buy them done though because if my hubby cut them out they'd look like Rorschach tests.

There's only one thing wrong with 'em - they all appear to be nubians! Having a swiss breed profile, boers, 'munchies, pygmies/nigies would be cute too!

I've been thinking of making our farm sign in a similar fashion but I'm not nearly as crafty and I'm worried it wouldn't turn out so well!

One thing I'd suggest is making other critters that would appeal to a wider range of buyers. Chickens/chicks/roosters would be too cute, ducks, different breeds of rabbits, pigs, dog breeds etc. Maybe you could make horses/foals and cows/calves on commission or something just because they'd likely be large. I think they would make AWESOME farm signs. A good place to market them would be at a rabbit show, farmers markets, arts and crafts shows, online/ebay, on forums like this, in front of your property, on craigslist etc. I think it's a great idea to make a little more money!

As for how much I'd pay - I agree with 50.00/family. I'd say at least 25.00 for the adult doe.

I second MyGoat these Nubians are cute, sure, but I have Saanens and love the swiss ear set. Doing chickens and ducks and other farm animals sounds like a great idea too. Also, don't overlook consignment at a local shop, you can even try antique stores in your area, not everything at those places is always vintage, sometimes its just artisan.

Thanks everyone we are going to branch out. We have everything from santa to horses. We are also looking into doing smaller ones around 6inches for the tops of mail boxes. I will crank a few out and see how much it cost and I will get back to y'all. Oh course I would do them cheaper for the forum family

I also want one for the mail box & I don't care what kind of ears it has as long as it HAS ears.

Also would be interested in the goat family too depending on what shipping would be. When you know shipping & your prices let us know please.

Great job too Donna, I Love them!

PRECIOUS! I'd love one, too! Saanen, please. Also, can you make me a garden flag? The only goat garden flag I can find is one for the Army!

Would y'all stop hating on Nubians?

Sheesh. Someone finally comes up with a nice Nubian item, and all you can do is find fault with it.

Breedists...

LOVE them! (And as a new Nubian owner - I doubly love them )

Do you have a website set up? Or a blog site that you can post them? I'd say you are going to be very very busy in the next few weeks, based on the above responses...
