Help! Please!
We have a total of 5 goats in all. We have two pygmy goats (males) that are around 15 weeks old. They are normally the happiest little guys ever. Last night, when we put them to bed, they were fine. This morning when I went to let them out, Chester, the littlest, guessing he only weighs about 5lbs. Is really really sluggish. He is eating and drinking, but laying down to do it and his eye was matted. I gave him a bath to try to perk him up, (they normally love their bath) and didn't work. now he is laying in our house on a pillow, sound asleep. what can i do?? help! any ideas!

What is their diet?
Does he have a temp?
Stools normal?
Urinating?
Color of inner, lower eyelid?
Last deworming? What drug did you deworm with & at what dose?
Ever been treated for coccidia?

You need to take his temp and keep him warm. Can you see any other symptoms? Cough, runny nose, is poop normal? 5 lbs at 15 weeks seems extremely tiny to me. Has he been on coccida treatment? How much does he eat? Is he still on bottle?

He eats very litlle grain, grass and hay. he is rasping when he breathes. Super sluggish. Poop is normal. he was wormed about two weeks ago, Ivomec. He is extremlely tiny. The breeders we got him off of said he was the runt... Cyrus, the other pygmy we have, weighs about 15lbs. He has been treated for CDL. I asked the breeders about treating for Coccida (we use demetox (sp) ) and they said we should wait awhile, becuase they fed food that treated for it. So I haven't treated him since we got him at 8 weeks.

I think you mean he's been vaccinated with CDT.
I'd think pneumonia.
Someone chime in with treatment for pneumonia, please!

A kid can not consume enough medicated feed to treat for coccidia, and given his small size (runt or not, he's tiny!) I would think he could have coccidia.
What kind of Di-methox do you have? Powder, 40% injectable or the 12.5% solution?
Here is a link with dosages. I'd treat him for 5 days, no missing doses or skipping days, then repeat in 21 days.
Different Cocci meds and doses
I'd also hit him with a wormer that gets tapes after you finish his coccidia treatment..... Something like Zimectrin Gold (dose is 1cc per 30lbs) or Valbazen (1cc per 10lbs).
Coccidia can kill, and it doesn't always present itself with loose stools like most folks expect.

Proper treatment for Pneumonia is some heavy duty antibiotics...
unfortunately not much of the available at farm stores stuff will help if he's already that ill....
There are viral pneumonias and bacterial ones....Do you have a friendly vet that would sell you dosage based on your little guys weight?

When I had 3 doelings come down with pneumonia, I couldn't get RX antibiotics so I treated with banamine, childrens benadryl, vitamin C & Biomycin for 5 days. But all had respiratory symptoms and/or fever (some had one or the other, and one had both)...

Di-methox is a sulfa & used to treat a slew of issues..... He should show improvement soon. Just do not underdose him & give the full treatment dose for 5 days (instead of cutting the dose after the 1st day as some do for prevention rounds). A lil probiotic wouldn't hurt him & a shot of fortified B-complex could help perk him up.

Oh and make sure you're drenching him with the actual dose, not just adding it to water.
Giving him some baking soda wouldn't hurt either (you can make damp lil balls to put in his mouth)...
Keep him warm, keep a check on his temp & if he starts spiking a fever, give banamine, 1cc per 100lbs.
Good luck

You give it orally, it's horribly nasty, so get the syringe as far back in his mouth as possible so he can't spit it out, he must get the full dose.

Wanted to give an update....Chester sadly passed away the same night around 11. My 2 year old knew it was his time before he passed...without anyone telling him to, he laid down beside him, hugged, kissed and waved bye-bye. He went peacefully, with my husband, son and myself right by his side. After he passed, we found what looked to be a bite..after speaking to a vet, we've came to the conclusion that it was a spider bite. The vet said at his small size it wouldn't take much. It was hard on us...His buddy, Cyrus (who is half blind-they worked off the buddy system, cyrus would follow chester everywhere) refuses to be a goat, he wants to be right with us now. We're going to baby him as much as we can, we know he's mourning too.. Thanks for all the help and comments.

I had been following your thread but didn't have anymore advice to give. I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you lost Chester.
