I have 2 girls that look like your black and white spotted girl totally unrelated you would think by looking mom and daughter. 1st came from blond doe and black with white spots buck, second came from red doe and copper bucks with white spots, however if I remember right sister of buck was black and white but neither of her parents were. Goat genetics are bizarre!!!!

beautiful goats!! love the silly tongue pictures

If you don't mind answering why is the one goat's ears docked? I had someone recently asking because they bought a goat who's ears were like that. They were definitely not like my Lamancha's ears.

I had two a few years ago that were born in January and their ear tips froze. I don't breed for less than March babies. Maybe her goat's ears were caused by something else.

Do they get frost bitten from cold temps, or from falling in the water bucket? I'm wondering as I just got my first 'long ears' and have been worried about the latter.

Hi,

These frost bitten ears, where from when this baby was born, he was born on a really cold day. Outside and I think momma didn't lick off his ears as well as she could have, with in 2 days, his ears were swollen up and a little while later, the ends fell off.

My Older does don't have a problem, but they can hold their ears up a bit to keep them from going in the water, I haven't had any problems with any goats older than fresh babies.
