Question Empty bellies and copper?

Some one asked if it would be better to copper a goat on an empty belly, or did it matter? Well I didn't know, so I figured you all would. Thanks!

I don't think I could find a moment in time when my goats would have an empty stomach!

I think your right. You would have to with hold all food for 12 + hours. That probably would not be very good for their rumen. Not to mentions goats screaming at you from the barn because they think they are dying of starvation!

The upside could be that you could put the copper in almost anything and they'd swallow it whole.

My girls get shut up into a smaller paddock near the house at night. Fear of bear and mountainlions on my part. They get a hay rack full of hay to come in which is empty by 45 minutes or so later. Right now they get that at about 7pm. In the winter about 6pm.
I go out to feed in the morning at 8:30 am. The goatie girls know I feed the horses first so they don't even get up and stretch until the hay is given to the horses. They do not baa at me until I'm carrying their hay out to the outside hay rack. Then they stand by the paddock gate, pushing at each other to be the first out.
None have yet died or seem to have any stomach problems. They are fat and seem pretty content with life.
So yes, they can survive without constant full tummies. They just have great acting abilities to convince you otherwise.
