CL ad: What do you think?

Milking Goats~Lamancha

These does look terrible to me.

Is it just me? (Please be sure and look at all the pictures.)

Would you send the seller an e-mail, suggesting worming, minerals, and some decent food?

Or would you mind your own business?

I swear, I'm seeing this more and more on my local CL - not just goats, but other animals, such as the two pack donkeys I saw a few days ago. Except the seller called them "pack mules." They looked horrible, too.

I think I should stay off of CL.

Well keep in mind these are dairy does so it isn't abnormal to have trouble keeping weight on when in milk and one had quads. They put everything into making milk. Also being cold western Washington even mine are still furry, they are just now shedding out. I do think they need some copper looking at the color. They look a bit rough but not serious neglect rough.

Yes, you should stay off CL. You can't fix the world. I know this because I tried and burned out.

Wow that creme colored goat is lucky to be on her feet. If you could touch her you would find nothing but a skeleton. I don't have any advice but that is awful.

My dad always used to tell me, "You can't save them all."

This is what I was thinking, too.

Did you look at the middle picture of the black one? The poor thing looks dead in the eyes to me.

Odd that the seller says in the ad, "not for meat," but doesn't seem to mind starving her/his animals to death.

My doe freshened almost three weeks ago and she doesn't look anything even remotely close to those two girls.

What concerns me the most is that the cream one doesn't have any muscle tone but a serious lack of minerals and no copper certainly aren't going to help the situation. But maybe the owners just fell on hard times and can't afford to feed them properly. Maybe that is why they are selling them.

I've been seeing a lot of this on CL, too. I have to constantly remind myself I'm not here to save the world. *sigh* I'm apalled by the prices people are asking for run down, old, and unhealthy animals. It is unreal. I think there are a combination of issues going on in a lot of cases- the economy being at the root of it, along with people who don't/won't educate themselves on the care of goats/sheep. But I'm seeing it in equine, canine, cats, rabbits... it is horrible.

You want a doozy? There's a lady selling a German Shepard/Wolf on East Idaho Craigslist that says it would get along great with sheep, goats, cats, and poultry. (I'll bet!)

I think the Humane Society needs to peruse CL more often. Poor things.
