Right Now Onyx, I FINALLY can haz them.

Okay so only fellow crazy goat people would understand my excitement LOL. But a little feed and farm supply place just opened up about 2 miles away from us. Yesterday I stopped in to see what they had and right there in front of me were two bags of Right Now Onyx minerals. I'm sure the owner thought I was nuts. I said something like, "Oh wow you have the Right Now Onyx! I've been trying to get those for forever!" I bought a bag of course. She said I was the second person to buy them and had one person call to ask for them so they will continue to stock them. So last night my goaties got their mineral feeders filled with lovely black minerals and all of them dug in like they were candy. No more of the sub-par red minerals for my goaties.

Yes, I'm a crazy goat person. But I'm a happy crazy goat person so, it's all good.

totally understand your your excitement... several years back out feed store would only order Onyx during certain times of the year (whenever it is that cattle would normally be getting it)... then they would start having emerald or bronze ect.. well I wanted Onyx ALL year long... one of the guys in the back saw they were getting low on the onyx and moved it (read.. hid it!!!! for me LOL) the next year, he gave me a head's up when they were down to 10 bags... I decided to NOT be greedy (in case there was another onyx goat owner in the area LOL.. and ONLY bought 8 or the 10 bags... I swear I felt *rich* everytime I'd walk past my stockpile of minerals LOL... (not quite the same feeling of bounty I have the first time I go out to the hay barn after we get the year's supply of hay all stored safely away .... but it was close!! LOL)....
congrats on finding some

susie you're too funny. At least you werent greedy & left a couple bags.

After many years of feeding SweetLix we finally switched to the Cargill Onyx because of all you HT goat people. Never knew how great it was till I read the tag. There's significantly more copper. For me the proof was in kiddings.
2 yrs ago 4 out of 7 does tried to kid with one or both front legs on the first kid bent back. That was WAY too many assists.
This yr (since Onyx) same does same buck all smooth kiddings except for one.

No kidding! (pun was unintended but probably subliminal! LOL)

That SweetLix is C _ _ P! We are ever so very happy since we find a company that makes us our very own custom mineral mix - and for less than Right Now products sell at our local feed store. And ours includes the Diamond V Yeast and organic chelated minerals. Feels very good - and oh my the proof is in the easy kiddings and vigorous kids!

Congrats on the good mineral...what a relief!

Camille I tried to get your mix. All we got was a bunch of run around from them. It is Wolfkill, right? Since we dont do biz with them they werent very helpful.

Let me get you the number for the gal that I work with. Maybe Othello is more accommodating than over near Seattle? Perhaps if my gal places the order with that plant it will go more smoothly.

Jamie (and the plant) have always been helpful. (Besides, if they would sell you the mineral, you would be doing business with them, right? Ya gotta wonder sometimes...)

So the Onyx is made for cattle, yes? It says Agway carries it but I have never seen it there, maybe I need to ask for it in a different way or something lol

Haha my new feed store will order it for me along with. Ammonium chloride and feed grade calcium carbonate! YES! And their prices are better then the other stores. Most of the " feed stores" around here are gift shops with a small amount of livestock stuff. The new owner has goats and read forums on the net and does his research. I can also get CMPK there both injectable and oral and he has CDT antitoxin. I'm in love!! Finally I don't have to run all over tarnation to get what I need. Happy dance happy dance!

Nancy:

Wolfkill Feeds: Jamie Sackman 509-989-5970

Jamie is great to work with and should be able to get you set up. You do have to order a 1000 lb. minimum (and in exact increments of 1000 lbs as that is how they manufacture the mineral).

Hope this helps!

PS The mineral is called Copper Penny Goat Mineral (cuz we needed to call it something!)

Goldenwood our feed store carries Cargill products but not the minerals so they order it for me, I bet yours will do the same.

How much is everybody paying for the Onyx minerals?

I'm thinking it would be worth it to switch from Sweetlix if I didn't have to copper bolus anymore. Sweetlix is the best I can find in my area, and both I and the goats like it.

I've looked for it a few times in the past. The only dealer listed is a TSC in my area, and the people there had never heard of Cargill (wha?) despite being listed as a dealer. And, because I know the manager personally, I have been informed that TSC is too big of a chain to do personal orders anymore. So no Onyx from TSC.

Thanks so much Camille! Are they 50#bags? I just might be calling her once I find several people to go in on it.
Right Now 50# lasts a few months.

Yes, they are in 50# bags. You will be surprised...once folks know you have this mineral they will find you and purchase your excess.

The minerals used in this mix are truly superior. For example, the selenium is listed at at least 90PPM but with chelated organic it is 2 - 2.5 X more bioavailable, so more like having 180 PPM +++ Better to have it available all of the time, rather than just pre-breeding/pre-kidding with a Bo-Se shot.

Keep in mind, I am a big believer in spending a little more up front to have supremely healthy animals in the long run (and save kids, dams and vet $$) - oh, and it is actually cheaper than the Sweet Lix Meat Maker or the Cargill minerals (at least around here).

It is an incredible mix Camille, and I think I paid $20 for 50# -- not a bad investment at all!
