Perimeter Fencing question

We have a good 5 wire barbed wire perimeter fence and wondering if we installed a 3-wire electrical fence by running the wires in between the existing barbed wire would this be suffiecent enough to keep the goats from getting out?

Yes.... If you have a good fence charger. If it's solar, stay away from Zareba. I've never had one that would keep a goat in. I use Gallagher and they never (fingers crossed) get out with it.

Possibly. Just be sure to read up how to install the fence correctly. Many folks(like me) think they got it, throw the wires up and hook them to the charger. Until we had an unruly bull calf, did I take the time to read and learn just how much grounding rods and grounding wires come into play(nobody dared test the fence after that). Do you homework and don't skimp on the juice.

Mine will stay in electric for the most part, I think they would stay in it steadily if I set it up more for goats. Right now, ours is just a couple strands for the horses and if the goats try hard they can shimmy under the bottom strand(or bolt through).

Great feed back thank you so much! We are looking at Gallagher and did look at Zareba but have spoken to the Gallagher rep who will come out to the land and help us configure everything. Many Thanks to you both!! Have a wonderful and safe weekend, God Bless.
