tick protection

My chickens can not keep up, so the goats are getting attacked. Is there anything I can put on/in the goats that will help repel the ticks w/o effecting milk flavor?

Thank you

I was just reading on another site about putting apple cider vinegar in the water for a number of things, including tick and mosquito control on the animals. I've only started using it myself so I don't know if it will change the flavor of the milk.

not sure about milk flavor but I second Apple Cider Vinegar. Years ago my sisters rott had to come stay at my house for a couple of weeks when they got there I was furious even though I had never been fond of this dog. She was COVERED and I mean COVERED in ticks. Some ACV in her only water source (she did not like the taste) and they were swarming off of her you could see them bailing. I would sit out there covered from head to toe in clothing, hat, pants tucked in etc. and catch them to burn would just drop them in a metal coffee can and build small fire on top then start over again.

A teaspoon of ACV for us humans cures acid reflux I hear. Heck, if it would help keep the gnats off me or the ticks trying to latch onto me I'd bathe in it.

BTW, I bet those cooked ticks smelled real good.
