Bee-Sting or Bottlejaw

Yesterday our FF's jaw was swollen ...

one of the kids have recently been stung by bees ...

The FF seems fine other than the swelling ...

Last night the swelling was a good bit more than this morning ...

We wormed her w/ cydectin the day she kidded and 10 days later, at 1cc per 22 lbs

We called a vet and they can not check for liver flukes without sending it off.

I may go get some valbazen amd give it at 1cc per 10 lbs?

wow... that's one is a hard call...it could be worms.. but that could also be swelling from a sting or bite.. I'd probably treat for both (we have had FOUR copperhead bites already this spring... Amelia got hit on the jaw, close to her mouth... two full on fang punctures, the whole side of her head was swollen... Tessie got bitten (one deep fang mark, one glancing one.. it looked like it slide more then stabbed).. right behind the bone on her eye ridge. She was so swollen on that side she walked off into mid-air trying to get off the milk stand!!!.. Victor & Gim-me both got struck in the neck.. Victor got it the worst. We were lucky it was him and not one of the little girls.. He is a big guy.. lots of swelling, had to take off his collar/ Gim-me got a side angled strike.. some venom, not a full hit.. ALL these bites are happening after they go into the doe barn after evening milk ... we are finding them like this at morning milking... can't find the stinking snake (snakes??) all the bites look exactly the same distance between fang marks... they have a grassy area behind the barn.. lined with cattle panel. I think it's getting them while they have their heads out of the fence back there, eating weeds... I keep hoping we either find the snake or he gets his fill of Nubian......

good luck with you girl (I've treated all the snake bites with banamine & 5 cc's of liquid benadryl

susie, mo ozarks

Question ... I now have on hand valbazen and cydectin

Should I worm just the one doe? ... Or ... the whole herd, including the kids? ... They all currently run together.

Check eyelids.

Here's a picture chart for alpacas, but it's the same for goats.

Thanks for the chart

Her eyelids are pretty pale arn't they

I gave her about 12cc valbazen (thats the first time i've used valbazen)

I'm wondering if I should also worm her w/ cydectin also? ( to cover anything the valbazen dosen't cover)
