Since I drink her milk, do I have her sent like one of her kids?

I followed a link off of another thread (Glimmercroft - Udder Development and Dam-Raising Kids ) , and it mentioned "try to be there when your doe kids, put some birth fluid on your hands, and let her lick it off. She will then see you as one of her kids and more readily allow you to take her milk." This got me thinking about forcing a doe to accept a kid by holding her while the kid nurses for a few day until he acquires her sent.

Well, since we drink Sadies milk every day, and she is our only milking doe, do I have her sent, and does she see me as one of her kids? She is such a sweety pie to milk, and a FF, I was wondering if this could be part of the reason she is so sweet.

I often sit around and ponder the deeper underlying meaning of life in this fashion. ;D

The scent of her milk is from the kids poop so I doubt she is getting that close up to you and you also eat other foods so it would be diluted.

Well, no, we are not that close . And I do certainly eat a lot of other food! So I guess she is just a sweety pie!

I think it is an interesting thought... You get milk from her like her babies would... I see what you are saying.

My bottle buckling has been drinking his momma's milk from the bottle from day one. I held her and let him nurse on her for the first couple of weeks too. So he certainly has her smell. She STILL won't let him nurse, lol. When he tries, she acts horrified like he is trying to steal her baby's milk (the doeling is *her* baby and allowed to nurse, but that boy is just not okay, lol). He sometimes manages to "steal" a sip or two before she realizes that it is not her favored child, lol. But mostly he is sucking down a quart of milk twice a day from the bottle and I am his mom. I call her his deadbeat mom

I think your girl is just really sweet
