I get goats middle of May!

in the middle of May I am getting two goats! One is a kid doe who will have just been weaned, and the other is a first freshener who rejected her kid and has been being hand milked since.

I will have a good hay available and goat grain, loose goat minerals and baking soda. for food stuffs and of course fresh water.

I will have my milking stand ready along with milking tools.

I will have hoof trimmers and a grooming brush ready.

is there any other "can't live withouts" that I am forgetting? It is an hour to the closest farm/tractor store so I can't just run in on a whim and grab something so I need to have the necessities on hand.

I need to make a first aid/emergency kit too! This is getting to be overwhelming!

How exciting for you & your family! They are a lot of fun.

There are some things you can pick up as needed but since your an hour from town the things I think you should have on hand when they get there is a decent antibiotic maybe Biomycin(it's not RX), a bottle of C & D Antitoxin, Cydectin wormer or for just 2 goats Quest horse Gel & a bottle of the CD & T Toxoid for their vaccine & booster shots, also a tube of Probios paste won't hurt to keep on hand as well.

You'll also need some syringes with needles, I use the 22ga/3cc for vaccines, etc. Some things you will need bigger syringes but those will get you started.

There are other things you'll pick up along the way but those are just a few things I think are definately needed to have on hand starting out.

The fence and gates are on their way. We will have a 2x4 wire fence 5' tall on 5" posts around the whole property, and a smaller goat yard made of the same inside the property. The main property gates will be the livestock ones (don't know what they are called but they are pretty common around here) lined with 2x4 woven wire fence.
I think I will also have a portable hot fence for when I need it, haven't told the DH about that one yet
Thank you for adding to my goat shopping list!

What kind of goats?

I can't offer any advice, we're in the same boat except ours are coming in mid-July. Lamanchas; 2 bucklings, 2 does in milk. We plan on using the same type of fencing as you.
