Unhappy Flies?

Its too early for this

What can I do to help keep the flies off? (they're all lactating)
That won't affect the goats, the babies or my milk?

I can't live with out this...
Swat Fly Repellent Ointment Farnam (Equine - Fly Control - Fly Lotions Spot Application)
I use it on faces/ears and around eyes on the horses and mini donk. I also use equine fly spray on the goats if needed. I don't have very much trouble with flies with the goats.

I ordered a trial package of fly eliminators from here Fly Eliminators - Free Trial Shipment Offer . I've either lost it in this pigsty of a house or it got lost in the mail. My cousin got hers, so I ordered another one under my daughters name and hope to get it within the next few days

Ordered some of the free trial. Heck, I'll try ANYTHING. These darn flies are INTENSE this year....and I *hate* flies.

Also going to get some of the other stuff Alice suggested and linked to.

I use Fly Predators. The company sends them out periodically all through the fly season. I've been using this product for about 3-4 yrs now and have found it reduces the population over 85%. [I've still seen a few "horse flies" on the goats; so will check into that fly control lotion Minelson has mentioned for those.]

I spent the extra money and bought a season's worth of fly predators 6 years ago from Spaulding labs. They are fabulous!! One of my highlights in spring is seeing them out and about. The trial size might just do it for you. Once you have a bunch, they get established and you shouldn't have to order them every year. Just be aware that they do not control the huge biting flies that hatch out of wetlands and swamps. They work by laying their eggs in the larvae of flies that lie in manure.

Yellow jackets and hornets will dive bomb flies all day long. They're fun to watch and don't typically sting or bite me unless I inadvertently squish one...but I also don't swat at them or panic. If they don't scare you, it's worth tolerating them.

Also, those little dome shaped fly traps that they sell at TS-and a few other places-They are fabulous!! DON'T let any of the stinky stuff you put in it on your hands-the smell is almost impossible to remove. Also, remember that there is a curve on killing flies. Killing a fly this time of year is like getting a couple hundred in July.Git'r done!!
