Graphic pictures! Last year's dog attack (Long)
Last year 2 dogs attacked my doe, Rosie. When DH got to her, one was standing over her growling at him, wouldn't back off and DH had to shoot it right above her, even though he was terrified of her being hit by some of the pellets from the shotgun
I called Cheryl, who immediately came over and rode in the back of the truck with her to the vet's (she thought I was doing 100, but I never passed 50 LOL)
I didn't think to get pics, I was too distraught. I found out the vet did and he sent them to me, so now I can show you the results of the attack... And Rosie now It's amazing what they can survive.

I couldn't see the other 2 first pics, but someone else said they could. Had reposted them, but took them off so it doesn't get too big.

I didn't think Rosie was going to survive. It was a weekend to boot ~or after hours? Not sure, know it was an emergency visit the vet had to come in for and it cost Carols neighbor a pretty penny to save her! Our vet is EXCELLENT and I often recomend him to people.....gonna add a plug for him if you in North Alabama....Lee's Vet clinic in Cullman AL. Both Jr and Senior Doc Lee EXCELLENT doctors. Younger Doc Lee did Rosies Surgery.

After hours. Well, I think I got through at 5 minutes before closing and got him to wait for us. Was 20-30 minute trip. Then took 4 hours to quilt her up.
Actually, I think he got a good deal at $400. Being after hours and 4 hours of sewing and the meds... But that's me LOL

I remember when Rosie was attacked last year. The poor thing looks terrible in those pictures. What an amazing vet you have & very lucky Rosie! She looks like she's talking to her kids in the last picture.
Hope you have healthy happy babies & Rosie does well. I'll keep my fingers crossed you have all doelings too.

HOLY SCHNIKEYS!!! That looks horrible!! Amazing job saving her! I don't know if I had seen those wounds if I would have taken her in. Guess I would have thought they were too bad to fix.

Backfourty, I told Dr Shane she was going "Yep, that's the leg, feels much better now, thanks!"
Having worked at a vet's, I know animals can do amazing things, so I felt she had a good chance as long as the skin didn't totally die on the one leg. There was only a tiny bit to keep blood flow going.
The other dog also got a lead deficiency supplement. The owner had cattle and wouldn't tolerate any livestock killers.
ETA Both dogs belonged to the same household. He was a little surprised I didn't just put her down, but he hasn't had a goat...

wow. It's amazing she survived that. And only $400 for repairs? I think that's a darn good deal for the massive repairs that vet had to make. I take it the dog's owner paid the bill? I hope so!

Yes, he paid immediately, I didn't have to give the vet anything I really hated to make him pay that for a $50 goat, but she is a big old pet and I'm really fond of her.
After she was up and walking again, she would often go to DH and rub him with her head Can't tell me a goat doesn't say thanks! She still does occasionally.
ETA Oh, and Dr Shane said not a single pellet of the shotgun blast touched her DH was so worried he'd hurt her worse.

Wow! That is an amazing recovery! Your vet did a great job and it's great the dogs' owner stepped up the plate and paid immediately.

The skin on the outside thigh died and she had to grow new to cover it. The old part turned rock hard and we left it to protect the new stuff until it was mostly in. I couldn't believe how quickly she grew it back. Within 2 months, it was covered except for a scar small as a dime!
Sorry to keep going on, getting these pics just reminded me of how proud I am of that tough girl
PS. This is my lunatic that never has accepted milking gracefully LOL She raises beautiful kids though. Cheryl has told me several times I should eat that goat. Cheryl was crying as bad or worse than I was. (Told on ya!)
