Buckling with swollen eyes, crying, seems

to have respiratory issues occasionally and be somewhat conjested - he was perfectly fine three hours ago.

We have separated him from the others, put antibiotics in his eyes. What else do we need to do? What could this be? Dh says the drops seem to have helped, but he is still not acting well. Temp is 103.3. I am at a total loss.

Ugh. I am ready to sell the entire herd, I am so tired!

I hope someone comes that can help. I have no idea what it might be. Have you thought about giving an antibiotic like Biomycin?

Sounds like allergic reaction. Try antihistamine

I would be leaning towards an allergic reaction to something.... liquid benadryl would be the first thing I'd start with..
there's a lot of creeping, crawling, stinging things out already...

susie, mo ozarks

(((LOL.. great minds think alike.. we must have been typing at the same time)))

I hadn't thought about an allergic reaction. Definitely best to start with antihistamines first. I hope he gets better for you soon.

You all are the best.

My friend, Ruthie, called me back. She thought allergies, too. Didn't have the liquid stuff but came up with another antihistamine. Captain and a buddy are resting in one of the kidding pens tonight. His eyes are still a little swollen and he seems a little congested still, but at least he isn't distressed.

I am still tired and I still say today made me want to sell the whole herd - Dh says not the whole herd.... I am glad the day is over and I can go to bed! Tomorrow has to be better!

Because I have good friends, it already is. Thank-you for being there!

Today started with a trip to the Goat Minor Emergency Care and ended with a trip to the same - thanks for being there!

PS: (Do you think Blue Cross Blue Shield will cover this one?)

Probably not, lol. I would love to see the look on the face of person though if called and told them you need to make a medical claim on your goat.
