We have babies!!!

We have two little black Lamancha babies! I haven't checked the genders yet...gonna wait until they're all dried off. Mudge had them without my interference...we were working in the garden, Jerry went down to the barn to get something and yelled that there were babies in the pen. WooHoo!!!

I'll get pictures once they're all dried off. Right now, they sort of look like little freaks.

P.S. Now what do I do? All of my reading/knowledge has left my brain in the excitement. I already dipped their umbilical cords and made sure that they could find the teats. Mudge is still licking them and being very attentive.

Here are some pictures. If I'm not terribly mistaken, these are both girls, right? One is much more pronounced than the other, so I just want to be sure. (I used to giggle at people when they posted these kinds of questions!)

Well, I'm only planning to keep one, so you're welcome to buy the other one if you'd like!

If you weren't so far, I would come pick one of these girls up in a heart beat. I can't drive that far and keep my doelings on their bottle schedule.

Our last goat excursion was a nightmare too. We ended up having to walk a pregnant doe down a busy interstate because we blew a tire on our livestock trailer.

Aw! Congratulations. I'm glad everything went so smoothly for you. What does your son think of the new arrivals?

You have it on me.......around here its kid sliding out..swipe the mouth...hang upside and swing a bit (and check sex as I pick them up) maybe this is because I always have exactly what I want in mind. Too bad "the girls" do not always agree with me!!!!!

I think my hubby was more excited about it than our son was! Of course, the babies were still wet last night. I'm sure that he will be much more thrilled today when he goes out to the barn. They ARE a lot cuter when they are dry.

I promise to get better pictures after the sun comes up. One is all black and has elf ears. The other is black except for a bit of tan on her face and legs. She has gopher ears. I'll have to have you all help me decide which one to keep since I know next to nothing about conformation.
