Which of your goats came from Emily/Ozark Jewels?
After an email exchange with another HT goat person, I started wondering how many of us got our goat start (or our best goats) from Emily.
We started with three from her.  Pumpkin, a totally airhead registered Nubian;
Orange, a chamoisee registered Alpine;
and Princess, a sundgau LaMancha who was bred to the incredible Sinbad.
Orange and Princess are the foundation of the herd we have now. Good udders, great teats, and we have descendants and crosses of them both. We jokingly call our herd The Princess Line!
Post if you have goats that started with Emily, and add pics of you have them.
We love you, Emily!

What a sweet idea. I wish I had been fortunate enough to purchase goats from her. This will be exciting to watch. Carla

None of my goats came from Emily, but my naughty goat, Snow, is from Sinbad's line. Her Sire was Legacy's Legend and Sinbad was his dam's sire.... So, I guess Sinbad is Snow's great grandfather....
Kind of convoluted - but I like to think that we are "related"..... Emily has wonderful goats.

I have 3 baby girls on my front porch right now whose sire is Legacy's Legend. The are beautiful girls. A friend has Emily's Legacy and another friend has a Shenanigan daughter. They are both beautiful and not far away.

Do you mean there are goats who are not "airheads"? LOL
Never owned anything from Emily's lines but I know from reading her posts over the years that she is one of the best people in "Goatdom".

I'm glad I stopped by this morning. I told myself I have to stay away from this forum and my YahooGroups until I get caught up with my work because if I don't, I'll miss my Storey book deadline and be in deep doo-doo.
However, ALL of my Nubians came from Emily's or are the offspring of goats from Emily's.
If any of you have my Storey book, The Backyard Goat, you'll see it's dedicated to Emily and to Claudia Gurn, who between them, gave me a wonderful start in healthy, well-bred, and very personable goats.
My first goat from Emily was Chalivah Pepper, who we called Latifah (she was a queen) because we already had a miniature horse named Pepper. She was not a prolific milker but perfect for our 2-person household and she was the coolest, most personable goat ever. I adored her gorgeous Nubian profile and her foghorn voice. She's gone now and thinking of her still brings tears to my eyes. She was THE goat in my life.
Then we bought bottle babies Uzzi (a wether) and Martok (Ozark Jewels General Martok, buckling by WEA IOA Falek and out of Peppercorn) of Hobby Farms Online blog fame. Martok sired all of our homebred Nubians to date.
Next we bought Earthsong Cinnamon Bon Bon, who is the sweetest, funniest, quirkiest goat I've ever known. She is matriarch of "the Bon Bon family" that now numbers Bon Bon, three daughters, two sons, and two grandsons (the boys are all wethers).
When we picked up Bon Bon, Emily gave me her old Boer-Saanen doe, Big Mama, and Big Mama's kid, who we named Tank. The deal was that Big Mama was entering retirement, which was not to be because she backed up to the buck run fence (I saw this happen!) and Martok made her a set of twins, Latka (wether) and Simka. There is now a very hot wire around the outside of Martok's run.
We've also gotten Edmund, Meegosh, and Milo (bottle baby wethers; Edmund and Meegosh are now big guys) and my young buck, Ozark Jewels General Kerla (by Eric and out of Narwain) from Emily. Bon Bon is currently bred to Kerla for July kids.
Emily has always been there to answer questions and she's disbudded all of our homebred kids. She's so upbeat and friendly--I love visiting her and seeing her goats. I can't say enough good things about Emily, I really can't. She's a truly wonderful person.

My animals are not from Emily, but I remember years ago when I saw she had some for sale-- that's what spurred us getting our goats to start with. I mentioned it to my grandpa, (who has since past on). He wanted to buy me a milk goat and himself a milk goat. By then Emily's were already sold, but we were directed to another farm in Missouri and we ended up with four lovely girls. My papa got a nubian and a lamancha and I got a nubian and a toggenburg. We had a lot of fun with the goats together.

(it's SUCH A LONG TRIP from my farm to yours..what is it? 15 miles LOL? still can't believe we live this close and never met)..

Susie, you'd be welcome take him home with you for a visit. I only breed one doe a year and he's put in his quota for this year. I know he'd appreciate the opportunity as he practices on his companion, Mopple, my Dorper-Katahdin sheep wether, much to Mopple's dismay. :op
He's out of Narwain who is by Tuxedo and out of Lark. This is his album at Photobucket: Ozark Jewels General Kerla pictures by dreamgoatannie - Photobucket
I do have one CL-positive goat (old Teasel) who gets an autogenic injection once a year and has never had an abscess since immediately after we brought her home almost five years ago. We isolated her and drained them into a latex gloves and burned the goo, it never touched the earth or anything in her environment. All the goats and sheep had Case-Bac the first year in case the autogenic vaccine didn't work, but it did. And, except for occasional nose-to-nose contact through the fence, Kerla isn't in contact with Teasel anyway. But I thought you should know.

Well I have never bought anything directly from Emily, but I do have 2 bucks and 2 does that are sired by a buck she bred ( Ozark Jewels Justus Jeremy) and we have talked about their influence in my herd.
Walnut Haven Norman has been used heavily in my herd for the past few years and the combination of Emily's lines with the Goldthwaite herd has been amazing. Every kid I retained freshens with nice teats and lots of milk.

Justus Jeremy & my Sr. Buck Cold have the same sire, Calypso... I have a doe, Lotti who is due next week, whose dam was also sired by Calypso.. Lottie's sire had the same sire as Justus Jeremy's dam did... (so Lottie is VERY close to exactly the same as Justus Jeremy) Lottie is bred to Cold to double up on Calypso ... (Cold's dam was old heavy milk lines.. Cold Comfort, Keinan, Briarwood, Ambwerwood, Murihill).... I'm really excited to see what we get from the combo.. fingers & toes crossed for nice teats & lots of milk

I added 3 goats to my herd in 2009 from Ozarks Jewels.
My buck Captain - out of Mulberry and Limosine's Triumph
One of our does Jazzmyn - out of Crystal and Galileo (not a good picture I know)
A better one of Jazz, and our other Ozark doe - Marina, out of Kenya and Limosine's Triumph -
These are older though - from 2009 when they were still kids.

Alice in TX/MO, this is an interesting thread, and the neatest part for me is I know the lady who sold Princess to Emily, and have related animals to Princess myself So nice to see the pic of Princess!
