question about mini-alpines

we have a mini-Alpine buckling who a woman fell in love with, but she plans on breeding to a Nigerian doe.

my question is will a mini-Alpine buck throw too big of babies for a Nigerian doe?
or will he throw his Nigerian sire's gene's?

hope I worded the question correctly,

thanks!

I would be worried about it though I know people do it. I am not a genetic expert but as best as I know he has a 50/50 chance of throwing bigger kids or smaller kids because of his genetics. Someone else can explain it better than I can.

Bah, lost my post!

I'm no expert, but some questions I would ponder:

How many generations is the mini-Alpine? If he is a first generation, you have a genetic coin toss (it sounds like he is from the wording of your post). If he's many generations, you have more chance of his offspring being his same size. How big are the kids his sire throws? How big do you think the buckling will be?

Also, how big is the Nigie doe - I've seen some BIG and some TINY Nigies, so that could make a difference. Also, how old - if she is a yearling I would worry but if she is a full bodied 3 or 4 year old, it could be a better situation.

both the mini-Alpine buckling and the Nigerian doeling are babies, and after thinking about it a bit more, I am going to not go with the sale if those are the plans.

He is a first generation mini and already bigger than the Nigerian bucklings...
I'd rather play it safe for sure.

I would be afraid the doe would have complications from babies that were to big. I wouldn't do it either.
