Injured pygmy goat miscarried :(

It looks like mama will survive though. Went out to feed and give antibiotic shots to all my dog-attack victims and noticed amber goo coming out of the injured pygmy girl. I sat with her and watched her for about an hour. She started to expel fluid and presented the big bubble. I waited what seemed like forever (probably in reality no more than ten minutes) to see if she was going to give birth without help. I ended up going in and pulled a tiny little doeling. Swung her around and got out a lot of amniotic fluid from her lungs. She had a very slow, faint heartbeat but passed away shortly after. There was only the one kid and she was very premature.
I am thankful she only had the trauma of birthing one baby as she is still very weak. I hope she can now put all her strength on just healing from her injuries.
I'm giving her treats and lots of lovies which seem like they're helping her feel better.

Are you sure there was only one? I hope so and she gets better quickly.
I am sorry you lost the doeling, you are right maybe now she can put more energy into healing.
If you have taken the dog in, I am sorry about that as well and you did right by him and your goats.

Yes, I am sure there was only the one. Since I was "in there" I felt around real good after I pulled the doeling out. She has also passed the afterbirth and is now just relaxing comfortably and letting me give her treats and love
I did take the dog to be euthanized yesterday. Thank you so much for your kind words. <3

You all are just the most wonderful, caring folks I could have the pleasure of "knowing". I'm holding up okay- I feel like the worst is over. I was constantly on edge these past few days- especially when I was at work, not knowing if the dog was going to find another way out and finish off what was left of my little herd. There is a sense of peace here now. Now we just pick up the pieces. The miscarriage was hopefully the last sadness caused by the dog.
I still can't hate him- he was just being a dog. I held him and loved him as he passed.

I am so sorry you lost the doeling Step. I was really hoping the pregnant does' would recover & hopefully deliver full term healthy babies. Like you said though this hopefully will be the last of the sadness & things will only get better from here on.

Hoping all your goats heal quickly & that your heart does as well. Tough, Tough situation you were in.

Well, now it looks like poor Mindy has a vaginal prolapse...
It wasn't too bad looking or sticking out far- just a little 50 cent sized flat blob of pink poking out but hadn't gotten better by this afternoon so I tried cleaning with warm water, using sugar and putting it back in. Checked her about an hour later and it's worse than it was before I messed with it.... Used some Preparation H and hoping she's looking better tomorrow. She is dribbling urine so I take that as a good sign that she can still expel it. She's eating and drinking normally. Is there anything else I can do for her? Sigh....

Steph I am sorry about your baby goat. That kind of thing is always stressful, but I know putting your dog down was hard on you too. I pray things turn around soon for you. There are some moments in time on the homestead that challenge even the strongest of us.

Have a good day today.
