OT- Prayers for my Grandpa

I am posting this here because this is where I mainly post. My grandpa (my mom's dad) has been sick the past few weeks with failing kidneys, he also has been struggling from major depression. He got admitted in the hospital a few days back and they discovered a spot on his lung and his brain. Today we found out it came back positive for cancer . I am not sure what kind of cancer it is or how aggressive it is. I do know he is having trouble speaking clearly but it is unknown if this is from the cancer or from him being depressed.

If you guys could pray for all of us right now . I have never lost anyone this close to me, I have been very lucky in this fact. This next few months are going to be some long and hard ones .

Justine

Prayers for you and family. If you need to talk, PM me. Yes, the first loss of a grandparent/parent is very very hard.

Big ol bear ((hug)) heading your way. Pass it on.

Touch is one of the most powerful medicines. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer he said that he felt like everyone was avoiding him, all he wanted was for someone to hold his hand. He was never the type to give hugs or respond when his kids hugged him and would never ask for such things, so it came as a great shock to us. After we started giving him big hugs and telling him how much we loved him, he snapped out of his depression and the meds started working. This month he has been free of cancer for 12 years.

You guys all brought tears to my eyes...thank you so much for all the support. I have seen first hand what cancer does to people. A friend/coworker died from cancer a few years ago. I was closer to her mom actually but me and a bunch of other people where all there her last months/days and I saw first hand what it did to her. I will never forget when I got the call that she passed. I rushed back to the house (just got home to rest a bit) so I could be with her mom. It was one of the most painful things I have ever seen.

I talked to my grandma today to see how she is holding up. She is doing alright, hopefully we will get some more answers on what type of cancer my grandpa has tomorrow. She said they are planning on having go to a rest home of sorts so he can do physical therapy and get back on his feet and moving around. She also said they are going to do some radiation to help with swelling in his brain? I am not exactly sure what she means by this. I will hopefully find out more info soon. I have been working this week so I haven't been able to go see him yet. But I am praying I can finally see him on Tuesday.

Alice thank you SO much for the offer to talk...before this is all over I am sure I will be PMing you. Me and my grandpa have never been CLOSE close but he has always been there. I worry more for my younger cousins. They lost their father last Fall. He was never a GREAT dad and my grandpa really stepped up to the plate for the boys and was always there for them. So my heart is REALLY breaking for them. Peter is 16-17 and Sam is 19, please pray for them also. I think it will be hitting Sam really hard because he was always closer to my grandpa and really looks up to him. They are both such amazing great kids despite their father's mistakes and I really think my grandpa had a lot to do with that (them turning into great young men).

My grandpa can be a gruff man and isn't one to complement lightly. But he has a heart of gold and he looked after those boys like they where his own. Thank you again so much for all the prayers. I trust you guys like family here....thank you....okay great now I am crying again.

Justine

Good news! He is doing much better and is being moved to a rest home so he can get some PT in and go home. It is great to see him wanting to get up and move around. I still am not sure what type of cancer he has but my grandma said hopefully he will be home by the end of the week.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers. I truly believe in the power of prayer and seeing him doing so much better just lifts my heart.

Justine
