Our latest additions..... - Goats
Buckling
Our latest additions..... - Goats
doeling

These two were born on Sunday. There was a third that was born dead. Mom is I believe Nigerian and the sire is Toggenburg....so that would make them mini-Toggs.

Adorable babies! I'm no expert on Toggenburg's of course but the sire looks maybe like he could be a Togg mix or is he purebred? I would not breed a bigger buck to a smaller doe, could be in for awful kidding problems that way, just don't want you to have any problems like that down the road.

Being the ignorant newbie that I am/was......I thought I would have no problem keeping the buck from this doe. Boy, was I mistaken! Big time. I have been sweating it the entire time worried that she would have problems but these are actually very small babies. The only one she had any difficulty with was the one that was dead and that was because of it's position.

The buck, I am told is purebred. I could be wrong. He has changed a lot since that pic was taken, he now has a longer coat with a mane down his back. He is a very interesting looking animal and he is polled. These kids both appear to be polled. No crowns where the horns should be growing.

No, not ignorant, we all start somewhere. Just glad all worked out well & you have 2 beautiful babies.

My bucks have thick longer hair than the does, long beards & a mane down their backs too. I always attribute the bucks thick long hair to testosterone.
