Kid Pic Thread!

So, DH has a new camera that he wanted to try out, and my foster-daughter was willing to play back-drop model. Special, cameo appearances by the Ancient Border Collie!

So, the two bucklings left from Brie's triplets (one was sold), at three weeks old. The lighter one we call Cinnamon and the darker one we call Brownie. Both bucklings:

Some of just Brownie:

Cinnamon was harder to take pics off that weren't blurry, but DH got a nearly perfect one:

Cypress...two that didn't turn out blurry:

Mardis Gras' triplets, with Ancient Border Collie (Rosie) in attendance:

DH also managed to take video...but I can't upload it until I get into town as my countrified satellite internet connection would take DAYS to get it done.

My foster-daughter SWEARS that willingly submitting to being a baby goat trampoline IS NOT a clear sign that she is well on her way to becoming a crazy goat lady. Uh-huh.

Adorable pictures. I think your foster daughter is becoming a crazy goat lady. What cute babies, beautiful foster daughter and beautiful border. Borders have a place in my heart.

Man, what a trooper. Those little tiny hooves can hurt when they start dancing on your innards!

I just looooooooove Cypress! I used to have 2 does that same color. Such sweeties!

That pic of Cinnamon looking back is awesome!

I have to admit, I chose Cypress for that lovely color.

She is the replacement doe for the hermaphrodite that I ended up with. So there I was, in the middle of her breeder's barn, with all these lovely doelings, saying, "Do I choose the one with the really great pedigree, or the one with the really, really great pedigree? Or what?"

Her breeder has been breeding for production and conformation, in that order, for decades now (I can't remember if it is 25 or 35 years, so "decades" will have to do), and she doesn't have any BAD producers or conformation in her herd.

Finally I just said the heck with it and picked the one that appealed the most to me visually. Yes, I confess. I picked a goat on color and markings...and you don't milk color. When I am done, I will meekly allow myself to be led to the stake and burned.

And Cinnamon is an absolute doll!

All right! I have been lured to the Caprine World!

A little birdie told me there might be some adorable "show stopping" kids over here, and they were right.

Very nice pictures.

We have no Livestock yet, and would like to add milk and eggs to our "homestead" portfolio. We adopted a blue heeler who is waiting for her herd. She won't let us out of her sight.

I think that IT IS a very clear sign! And the sooner she stops fighting her fate the happier she will be!

You may not milk color, but you do have to stare at it twice a day, every day!

Beautiful! I have an affection for border collies. I have 5 of them.

My herd looks like your herd. Babies are due in another 3 weeks and if my due crew look half as cute as yours, I'll be very happy.

Angela, my foster daughter, will be re-registering on here as soon as the site stabilized. She registered last week, but one of the crashes lost her info. I, also, think she just needs to bow down and accept her fate as a goat mommy.

Rosie, the Border Collie, is 13 years old now. She is great with goats, as you can see, and lovely with people. Chickens? Eeerrrr, not so much. She is the reason we do not free range our chickens right now. However, she is old, sweet, and has gotten slow, so perhaps this year I will try an open pen for the chickens and guineas.

Rick, if you get into goats, you will never regret it. They bring heartache sometimes, yes, and frustration, yes, but they also bring much joy. I would not trade having my goats for anything.

Candice, the triplets are already sold. They are flashy, so the pet people all have clamored over them. That often makes me sad, as Brownie and Cinnamon's dam, Brie, is such a WONDERFUL keeper. She *never* needs her hooves trimmed. I go over them with a file just to say I did it, but she doesn't NEED it. She is super efficient, making her gallon of milk a day on, basically, sunshine and air. She seems to be resistant to parasites; I have to worm her half as much as any of the other goats. AND if I slip up and am late on mineral boosters, SHE never gets a hint of deficiency. All the other goats, it seems, will start loosing hair in their tails if I am so much as a week late in bolusing.

In other words, she is a management DREAM. But she isn't flashy, and she doesn't tend to throw flashy kids. So HER kids tend to end up with the meat people.

Trout River, you would not have been jealous of my grass just a few months ago. I had none, as the drought got it ALL. ~chuckles~ I am just grateful that we have some *now*. :happydance:

Jo, I am better your kids will be even CUTER. I still need to get pics up of the Icy twins, now that they are older.
