Fencing...how many hot wires and spacing?

I am fencing in about 17 acres. It is currently surrounded by old field fence except where it borders the road and that is nice new 2x4 horse wire. The side fencing is up but not tight and alone I don't think it would withstand the pressure of goats. We aren't financially prepared to completely replace the fence at the moment and we really need them to help with weed control out there so we are planning to reinforce the fence that is there with electric on 5" extension insulators. How many strands and what spacing would be best in this situation? We will also have Great Pyrenees with them but as long as there is a top and bottom wire I don't think the dogs are going anywhere.

I'd do four wires.

One about 6" up, the next at about 12", one at their shoulder height, and one at the top

I'm seconding BFF's suggestion. With field fence behind it, four wires should do fine.

Mainly what you are wanting is to just keep the goats off of the fence.

Ok thanks. I was going between 4 and 5. I think we will start with 4 and add 5 if that seems like it isn't enough.
