CL in humans connected to goats?

Found this accidentally while looking up CLA environmental lifespan.

I'm on MSU campus, so I'm not *sure* it's open for general perusal... because I'm on MSU internet means I often have access to all sorts of awesome scientific published papers.

Anywho, on the righthand side there is a link that says "PDF". Clicking will download it to your computer. Under 3.2, human infection, the first incidence reported is one related to 'consumption of raw goat meat and cow milk'. (Why someone was eating raw goat meat I don't know - perhaps they meant undercooked?)

Interesting, because I didn't know there were any cases related to goats AT ALL, I know of sheep herd owners in Australia.

And one more reason to eliminate CL from our herds!

my hay farmer had cl from the sheep at the fair he helped out with.
he had two surgeries already but have not seen him over a year.
last time i saw him he had very painful swelling on his neck.
cl is a zoonotic disease and does not matter from which animal it comes.
this disease has no place on my farm.
