Lysigin?

Okay,

I have read and read, but am still confused. I have a virgin doe and also two experienced kidders. The two experienced were given Lysigin last year, by me after an occurence of staph. The virgin doe is new and was not given Lysigin. So now, all three are bred. I have read that virgin does should be vaccinated before breeding and then in 14 or 20 day (depends on what you read) and then before kidding. Can I still vaccinate my virgin doe before kidding even though she was never done before?

Also, I read conficting dosage, from 2.5 to 5 cc or ml. Can I still vaccinate everyone three weeks before kidding, at same time as CD&T, and do I do my bucks as well?

Thanks;
Rosina

Oh, yeah, Can't remember which size needle you all use for these SQ vacs.

I don't do the bucks. Yes, vaccinate all the does about three weeks to a month before kidding.

I do 5 ml.

A half inch needle is good for subQ injections. The smaller the better, but thick stuff doesn't like going thru a 25g needle. I try not to go over 22g for the goats. Seems a bigger gauge may be more painful and I am a needle phob myself. If you only have longer needles, just don't insert it all the way.

And I'll be googling this lysigin, never heard of it before...
