Ages Ago Acres 2012 kidding tales...

We moved 4 moms-to-be into the kidding barn last night... Edith (due on fri) Tessie & Dill (due on Sat) and Rizzo (due on Mon) Rizzo was there to keep her friend Dill company over the weekend...

We had spent the day cleaning out the kidding pen, re-haying the floors.. cleaning off the cameras... (this is the first year that I'm out in the new add-on.. mother-in-law sort of deal.. living room/bedroom/bath & small kitchen.. married/pregnant daughter & hubby have my old bedroom for now... The back door of the add-on is directly across from the kidding room door.. maybe 7 feet away... This is also the first year that I had a NEW tv to hook the cameras up to... imagine my surprise to learn that after 5 YEARS!!! of using these same cameras (with an old tv) that I have SOUND!!!! I was amazed LOL...

The first broadcast of 2012 GOAT TV began around 10pm.. went to bed.. I woke up, looked at the tv (had it muted).. rolled back over, went back to sleep.. several times last night.. checked this morning before chores.. nothing.. (the two FF, Rizzo & Dill never moved all night)... fed breakfast, decided it was a nice sunny day and to just let them all out of the kidding barn for the day... glanced up at the tv and there was Rizzo with FEET sticking out!!!! minutes before there had been nothing but a bored pregnant goat eating breakfast!!!!..

Grabbed towels, lube ect... got out in time to catch baby number 1.. Rizzo, kept eating hay.. one push and out came a foot & a head.. I'm telling her "wait, wait.. let me get the other leg".. one more grunt and I was catching number two.. Rizzo is still munching hay LOL.. Nice set of black & white boy/girl twins... (even tho we are a nubian farm.. the first babies of the year are wee ELF-earred folk... little lubians to love on)... they are now in a play pen ... awaiting the arrival of more *playmates*... Edith looks ready to pop! but still has her liagments...

(I took some pics last night of the girls in the barn and a few of the kids from this morning)

Ladies in waiting
Edith

How adorable! Can't wait for more baby pictures & what a nice set up it sounds like you have, especially for kidding season.

thanks guys.. I'm still trying to get use to the idea that the cameras have sound... all these years.. who would have *thunk* it LOL and it's pretty good sound.. I could hear Edith's berries falling out and hitting the ground!!! LOL...

Edith, Tess & Dill are all snoozing the night away (granted.. lots of grunts and groans)... I'm going to give induction drugs to Dill & Tess tomorrow morning.. so they'll kid for sure on Sat. during the day... Edith will more then likely go tomorrow.. Ran by the vet's today for a new bottle of injectable CMPK (just in case).. told them I had 3 does due this weekend, they assured me they'd be home all weekend and to call if we need them (they'll meet us at the clinic)..nice thing.. this is the local vet that QUIT doing large animals/farm animals 5 years ago... BUT... they did the emergency c-section on a FF last year (excellent job.. healthy baby, healthy mama.. healed great.. they put her all the way under.. did a *belly/dog* type incision...) I'm very thankful that they are still more then happy to help me in an emergency... it's suppose to be pretty nice weather all weekend.. so bring on the babies!!! (did a couple loads of towels today.. found the new nipples I ordered.. we are ready)

Such cute kids! Though I am partial to the earless wonders . Reading this thread reminded me of my two barn cameras I have had in storage for the past few years. I need to pull them out and have them hooked up for this kidding season. Thanks for reminding me .
