Some Questions about my herd

I am trying soooo hard to make sure everyone is happy and healthy this year, so I'm going to ask some questions as I think of them .

First question...I need to wether one of my nigerian bucklings. He gets his 2nd cd/t shot today. Will that be enough or should I also give antitoxin? I'm asking this because I'm pretty sure I lost a kid to tetanus after disbudding last year and I don't want a repeat.

Second question....I will be giving the doe's their cd/t too. They are due anywhere from March 15-April 15. Should I vaccinate now or wait ? I want the cd/t to benefit the kids and I'm not sure how soon before delivery I can give it and it still help the little ones.

I know I have more questions, but of course I can't think of them right now and it's time to get ready for work. Thanks!

The cdt should be enough for the buckling the antitoxin will cancel out the vaccine then you would have to start over on that. I believe you want to give the moms 2 weeks out.

Your little buckling should be fine to band now since the first CD & T shot has now kicked in & it's just his booster he's due for that will last him the year. I would not give the antitoxin.

If you give your girls their CD & T shots before a month out from their due date I'm not sure how much the kids will benefit from it. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you. I think for the kids to benefit from it though the shots need to be given 3-4 weeks before delivery.

I'm thinking then I should wait until the 1st of March...that would be an easy date to remember for next year
