Update on my mom

This is my first time back here since I posted the prayer request for my mom. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. It has been a long, scary and amazing journey. The type of stroke was the most ly and/or most damaging one the brain can have. It was completely preventable by the doctor who did not treat her atrial fibulation(?) and it ended up causing a large clot in her heart and eventually it dislodged and entered a vital part of the brain. On top of that she developed bilateral pneumonia and was put on a ventilator. She wasn't expected to live, I later found out, and certainly wasn't expected to make a full recovery.

Well, it's not a full recovery yet, but she is walking and talking!!! She speaks completely normally. She uses wrong words alot but knows they are wrong and tries to find the right ones. She walks with someone next to her but on her own. She is feisty!!! Actually cussed at the therapist one day She never cusses. She's funny now and has no real memory of what happened. Shell need to go to a sub acute rehab once she leaves the acute center so that is our next step in this journey.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate your friendship.

That is amazing and I'm so happy that you get to have more time with her, and she with you. Praise God for wonderful miracles.

~Hugs~ And more healing prayers sent to your mother.

Strokes can cause personality shifts, so she is acting normally for a victim (with the cussing). I still sometimes have trouble grabbing the word I want out of my head, but I don't know if I should blame residual stroke effects or age for it.

I hope your mother comes fully back to her old self!

Praise God is right!!!

Caliann...Glad you said that. My poor mom gets soooo frustrated that she cant get the right word out that she upsets herself. I keep reminding her how much she has overcome since the day of her stroke, January 7, 2012. She is a walking miracle, but she obviously cannot remember the time she was on a ventilator with bilateral pnemonia.

I am so incredibly grateful to all of you for your kind words and prayers. This is someone that none of you know and still you pray for her just because I ask. Thank you. I get to go see her tomorrow. My car died so now I can only go see her when her husband does. Its a 2 hour drive each way. Maybe I should be praying for a car now, huh?
Well, God knows our needs and when I am meant to have a working car, I will. I feel blessed to have a way to get there at all.
