Antibiotics

What antibiotics do you use or have on hand? What do you use them for and the dosage? I have a friendly vet, so obtaining a prescription is not a problem.

Thanks

I keep on hand:

Bio-Mycin 200, it's the no-sting version of oxytetracycline and I use it for for anything minor @ 1ml per 25lbs. Administered SQ or IM.

PenG, benzylpenicillin, for anything that has inflammation as a symptom, such as pneumonia, advanced coccidia, staph infection, etc. Dosage is 5cc per 100lbs. Administered SQ or IM.

Naxcel, when nothing else works, hit it with Naxcel. The stuff is expensive, but it is the best thing for anything respiratory. Dosage is 2 ml per 100lbs, administered IM.

Hope this helps.

Oh, Nuflor is administered SQ at 6ml per 100lbs. It is very effective on Pasteurella.

I tend to use the Benzathine. Others prefer Procaine. It's often 6 of one....

I don't use both at the same time, and my preference id for the Benzathine.
