It does calm down the whole barn, doesn't it?

Yup, I've done this a time or two. After a while, they will automatically go to their assigned spot and wait for the food to appear in front of them.

Thank you for posting the pictures. I was worried they break them collars. I will have to try it later.

Ours all have their own spots they eat at & they know where to go each day but it takes dh & I each day to make sure they don't run to anothers after they finish their own.
I'm really thinking we should try this too. Those straps would work great.
Thanks for the pictures.

I tried tying Butter yesterday for feeding and it was AWESOME! No one getting attacked and beat up, no food being dumped in the process. So today I am buying tethers for the other two. Popcorn is not a problem but as soon as Spice realized Butter couldn't do anything she went over and stole her food. Little brat but boy do I love that stinkin' goat! I used short bungee cords and used channel locks to squeeze the ends to secure it to the fence.
Happy happy day!!

I was using bucketstraps on the outside feed troughs for the 5 senior pregnant does to make sure that everyone was getting their fair share of the feed (Piper and Syeda would see to it that they got it all if not). I grew tired of putting up bucketstraps and taking down bucketstraps twice a day because Piper would chew them in half if I didn't. I also grew tired of the girls having to stand in ankle deep mud to eat because of all the rain we've had lately. So my dh built me this feed trough inside the barn.
There is a 4 inch plastic chain for each doe, fastened to the wood on the trough with a fence staple with a 5/16 snap link on the other end that I hook to the does collars. It works out great.
These are 5 of my 8 pregnant does this year. They are all due the end of February, 1st of March. Left to right; Piper, Tesla, Bailey, Lucy, and my baby girl, Syeda.

Nice setup, Terry. And you have some very pretty does, too. It would appear that you are also a LaMancha lover!
