I am ligament impaired

If the ligaments are "gone," would she be able to hold her tail up?

I think it makes their tail more bent. Yikes...what do I know! But I can't imagine a goat that far along where the ligs are gone holding her tail strait up in the air.

She is holding her tail straight up, has had some goo, and is digging a hole to China in the back corner of the barn.

I guess you'd better get the kidding kit and the camera ready. Who's going to kid? Chelsy?

No, this is Lemon. She's a Mini-Alpine. She's not due till the 4th, but she kidded early last year (FF). Last year, another doe (in milk, thank goodness) *stole* her kid!! She kidded during the night, and by the time I came to the goat yard to milk, there was NO undoing the switch! The other doe raised the buckling, and Lemon went right to the milk string as soon as her milk didn't taste like colostrum.

I didn't breed Chelsy this year! The five bucklings last year made me nervous, and she's still giving over a quart a day, which has been fine for us, and pretty good for a little Mini-Mancha. I'm going to just keep milking her and see how long she goes.

My doe that kidded the other night - through every single one of her contractions her tail pointed to the sky (instead of arched down) - she carried it like normal the entire time so I have to say yes, they can still hold them up.

Get a Kleenex, Crystal. I am in my insulated coveralls, sitting in the kidding pen, listening to Lemon grunt periodically. ;-) The goats' cat has gone to sleep in my lap.

Don't you hate it when the hooves peak out and go back?

Looks like just the two. Lemon's being a good mom, and the kids are up and sucking.

Pics in the morning!
