I got my first goat!

I have been reading and reading about goats for a few months. I keep talking myself into buying some and then talking myself out of it. I really like the look of the LaMancha's but my DD17 says that goats need to have ears. I am also interested in the Nigerian Dwarf goats.

I saw a listing on Craigslist for a LaMancha doe. I told my friend that has goats about it but said that I couldn't get her because I would only have one goat and goats need a friend. She offered to board her at her house and use her buck to breed her in exchange for one of the kids. Hopefully she will have twins so that I can bring her home after that. If not, I guess I will have to buy another goat. Nothing wrong with that LOL

I picked her up yesterday and we think she might already be pregnant but I guess that time will tell. I can't believe that I forgot to take a picture of her. Her name is Mabel and she is brown. She was in a pen with some fainting goats but the owner said there was no way she was pregnant because the buck was too small to breed her. I think that they will find a way if they want to.

I have a few months to get a pen ready for my goats.

Love the name, Mabel. Yes, we need a picture when you can. And yes, the little guys can often find a way.

Aimee, you will LOVE goats!

I am always so tempted to get a Lamancha buckling from Emily to wether, especially a baby with elf ears (toooooo adorable).

Don't count on Mabel not being already pregnant. Unless those are really tiny fainting goats, the little buck could probably get the job done. First generation miniature dairy goats are sired by Nigerian Dwarf bucks and Pygoras were created by breeding Pygmy bucks to full-size Angora does. Bucks are highly motivated creatures.

Congrats! You could send a blood sample for a preg. test, or have a sonogram done so you would have an approximate due date

Welcome to the goat world & can hardly wait for a picture of Mable! I think the breeder was pulling your leg, If he's been around goats long enough he knows those bucks will find a way if there's a will & with bucks there's always a WILL!
I bet they will be cute little babies too!

My little Nigerian Buck had no problem breeding my standard size Nubian this past November.

I just remembered that I had a pic of her from the previous owner. Let's see if I can do this correctly.

I got my first goat! - Goats

I think she looks bigger than in this pic so I do think that she is bred.

Well,, I don't usually like the "earless" goaties but she is cute! Looks like she is smiling and has a really good looking beard!

Welcome and "fasten your seatbelt" once you get her/them(tee hee) home!

Yea, this is not a support group. More like, "here! Join us in our addiction!" group lol. I started with 2...I now have 6 and I'm always on the look out for more.

Congrats! She's a cutie!
