Exclamation At wits end!! Kids with Scours!!!

I have two outa three bottle babies that have had watery diarrhea for 6 days now. I started them on 12.5% Sulfa drench 5 days ago. and stopped giving them milk two days ago, I am now giving pedialite. They have been on whole milk not milk replacer. the oldest one is three weeks old and the other is two weeks old. They take the bottles like they are starved to death. they had goat starter in there bowl and nibble a little on the pellets. Gave them 1cc of Vit B1 last nite. It does stink just a little. They are running and playing just fine. WHAT DO I DO NOW??? AT WITS END!!
Thanks

I'd be sure to give all 3 the cocci TREATMENT dose as well as a dose of wormer. The 'eating like they are starving' is pretty normal for baby goats even in extreme health... they're ALWAYS starving, hehe.

They do still need milk nutrition so I'd definetely be working that back in to their diet. Free choice minerals and hay for the time being, they should be willing to eat. I wouldn't feed any grain till the bellies are doing beter. Offer a bucket of water with electrolytes in it.

I give Kaolin pectin when I see diarrhea. I'd use that plus hay to hopefully firm up their stools.

Dona has given you good advice.

Let us know how they're doing, won't you?

How much of the 12.5% sulfa drench are you giving them & how much do they weigh/kind of babies are they?
I use Di-Methox for cocci treatments but it seems like someone else here recently was having the same problem & I think they got the Albon & said that helped their little one.

I do agree they need the milk rather than the pedialyte. Also 2 & 3 weeks old is maybe a bit young for goat pellets but I'm not sure, hay should be given even if they only nibble
on a little bit.

Are they outside or kept in the house?

Wow that is a long time to have runny poop.

What are their temps?

How much milk were they drinking? Total per day...... total each feeding.... how many feedings per day

What is bottle temp?

Has it been constant, not one warm, one hot, one cold, one warm

You can give 1 1/2 cc pepto with 1 1/2 neomycin (pig scour med) orally after each poop or hour whichever is longer and that will firm up poop

Thier temps are normal. They are out in the barn under heat lamp. They are Boer goats. We have been feeding three times aday each get 1 3/4 cups each feeding. I have been giving then 6 cc of medicine every moring. Boy they hate it too. The milk temp is always constant. warm. Been busy tonite had two more sets of twins!!!

You can put the med in the bottle with the milk.

Info with correct dosages for coccidia meds, by name.

If you are bottle feeding, it's easier to get the Di-Methox powder and add it to one bottle per day while they are bottle fed.
