Exclamation kid down

One of the kids has a fever this morning. She was fine last night, took her bottle well and was moving around. This morning, she is acting like her left back leg hurts, though when i check it or pick her up she does not pull away or cry out. She is still looking around, and took about an once of milk this morning. Her temp is 104.7. I have PenG on hand as well as B complex, BoSe and CMPK on the way.

I gave her to pumps of nutri-drench this morning also.

What else can i do?

stop the nutridrench. Seriously, one of our very knowledgeable mentors when we were new had us taste it. It burned our mouth like heck. It will irritate their throat then they won"t drink for sure. If you can not get her to take the bottle and you can not tube her then use sub q fluids to keep her hydrated. Nothing should go into her stomach at this point but milk.
B complex never hurts nor does the BoSe. How does her lungs sound. Was her mom vaccinated with CDT? Did she get colustrum from her mom did the cord get dipped?

cord was dipped. only gave the nutri drench once. Not sure if Mom was vaccinated before i got her. That is something i have not done but am going to do from now on. I will have to listen to her lungs.

The mom had ketosis. I had to put her down this morning. She had been down since before she kidded, but this morning she was laying on her side, unable to lift her head.

the kids are in the house being bottle raised.

i also have the cdt vac coming.

BoSe for sure. Too soon for CDT on a newborn, I think.

I will also give a shot of B. That is ok right? What about a vit E squeezed in her mouth?

I can't find anything that says the dosage for a kid this young for Bo-se. all i find is 1ml per 40 lbs. How much should i give?

yes, you can give E in the mouth
Usually a kid is born between 6 and 10 lbs... so I would give her .2 ml (cc) ~~ that is only 2 of the little dashes on the syringe before you get to 1 cc
The b will help

You might get some cd anti toxin on hand in-case you have a case of entro on your hands. Give 1/4 to 1/2 cc BoSe to a kid.

I would put some baking soda in her mouth too. If she is drinking you can put it in her milk.

Baking soda in the milk (just a little bit) can be a real help. Especially if they are drinking something other than goat milk.

What kind of milk are you feeding? Goat, whole cow milk, replacer?

The good antibiotics are vet Rx. Will your vet let you buy bottles to keep on hand?

I have no other advice because you are in great hands with the ones that already have answered. Just wanted to say good luck and hope the little one pulls through.
