Smile Bo-Se shot timing?

I should know this, but one tends to forget from one year to the next. What is the timing of the Bo-Se shot on does that are due to kid here soon? Do I go ahead and give it or wait until they kid? Also, should I go ahead and copper bolus them too while I'm at it?
Thanks

Other answers may differ, but I give the BO-SE, CD&T and a copper bolus 30 - 45 days before kidding. Usually, 30 days or so. (Hard to remember all this stuff!)

Will it hurt if it's closer to kidding? I'm not totally sure when they're due as they seemed to go into heat really early this year and we didn't get the bucks out fast enough, so some of them look like it could be any time.
You're right. It is hard to remember all this stuff! If it's ok, I'll go ahead and give it to them today.

Nope, won't hurt a thing to give it closer to kidding. I give Bo-Se about 4x's a year. If I have a goat go down (recent puemonia for example), Bo-Se & B-vitamins are things I grab automatically.

Newborns get a shot of Bo-Se as well. If I remember correctly, Bo-Se stays in the system for 21-30 days (according to my vet). Only thing I try to avoid is giving Bo-Se to my boys right before I use them because it can effect sperm motility..... But I screwed up this year, gave my mom's mini buck Bo-Se.....Then 2 days later her doe was in season. I bred them, wondering if it would take, & 152 days later she had 2 does & 1 buck.

I know normally you give 1cc per 40#, but my county, the selenium content is .34 which is about in the middle. So, should I adjust that amount since we're not terribly selenium deficient in this area?

Also, on the copper bolus little #00 capsules, are those 1 capsule per 50#?

We give 1cc per 40 lbs. We give it before breeding and again about three weeks before they are due.

You're in Pratt county aren't you? According to the map, you're quite a bit lower than us at .20. I just don't want to OD them. :-)

We're in Stafford county. You won't O.D them with Bo-Se

A bit of a read, but VERY informative.

On the copper, I blogged about it & showed pictures on downsizing the calf boluses. You can just click thr link in my signature. Copper is dosed at 1 gram per 22lbs according to Joyce Lazzaro's copper study.

I'd dose the Bo-Se at 1cc per 40lbs.

Thanks! Good blog post! Have you figured about how many grams fits in one of those "00" capsules?
