1/2 a doz reasons Im thankful

There's about 6 loose dogs running through the hood in various numbers.
They just keep going because of the LGDs.
But! Theres one beagle who keeps visiting our neighbors dogs who are fenced in. He drives our dogs nuts! Had they access to bolt cutters they would have had him by now.
Both Bob & I & our neighbors have brought this dog back to his home several times, warning that if he ever got with the goats my dogs would kill him.
Didnt see dog for a few weeks.
Today he was back, trying desperatley to scale neighbor's fence. I almost got the pistol to fire a warning shot.
He wasnt on our property nor was he a threat to our goats.
This is why Im so thankful for our LGDs. Unless something is IN we're going to hear it & come out with extra protection if needed.
Beagle finally scaled neigbhors fence. Later someone else came looking for their missing Corgi who is one of the loose dog clan. Glad I didnt fire that warning shot cause it wouldnt have sounded right.

Due to all the huge dairies here in Southern Idaho, roaming dogs are usually never seen again.

Our german shepherd's bark is enough to keep the local coyotes moving on down the line, looking for easier prey. For that, we're really thankful!

I believe the roving dog pack is worse than the coyotes - or perhaps it is that I have more respect for the Coyotes since they're just trying to get by. Seems a group of dogs get together, lose their heads, and kill for sport. Our farm collies disapprove loudly of roving dogs, same as the yotes, though fortunately we haven't had a problem of them ganging up.

he coyotes, unless they pack up, which I haven't heard of often, tend to yield way when our dogs bark, and scamper off in search of easier pickings. I worry that politics would be different if our two collies were confronted with a dog pack, and clearly outnumbered.

Any chance you can get some snap-shots of the roving dogs and then start hunting down owners?

Our coyotes run in packs They start in a large circle, start yipping and howling and close in hoping to flush a rabbit or cat or whatever. The other night I froze my feet dashing onto my porch to yell at ones I thought must be on my porch, they were so loud! I know turning on the light and yelling made them hush and run off, so they must have been too close for comfort...

Local dog packs tend to disappear...
