Tubes for Biotracking

Where do you get the test tubes for it? Ive always gotten mine from my vet, but since Ive been doing my own shots I dont have the regular visits. So wondering if I can pick those up somewhere online.

Thanks!

I think you can order the tubes from Bio-tracking. But not entirely sure.

You can order them from Bio-Tracking, or you can find them on Amazon or medical supply sites. Just make sure the tubes are sterile with vacuum, hold at least 5 mL, and have a red top.

I ran into trouble last summer when trying to order tubes. Some places will require a Rx for tubes! However, here's a link to a place that gave me no trouble at all...http://www.pbsanimalhealth.com/detai...s/396-350.html

Not trying to hijack the thread but that place's prices are amazing. Pritchard nipples are $2.25 each or $1.95 each if you buy 12 of them. I just bought a 150 needles and 40 syringes for like $30 which at the feed store would have been close to $70-$80 .

I will so be going to them to buy my stuff in bulk from now on.

Hamby's dairy supply also has good prices on needles and syringes...

Their yogurt culture is the GREATEST. One pkg. does 1/2 gallon and you can buy 10 packets at a time. Check them out too!

I order my red top tubes from PBS Animal Health also. My needles, syringes and almost everything else I order from www.jefferslivestock.com .

Here's another great website for all your needle & syringe & other veterinary needs. They sometimes have "crushed box" sales - who cares if the box is crushed? Often they'll have a Buy One Get One sale, too.

what kind of needles do you all get for a blood draw? Do you all get the detachable kind so you can change out the collection tubes and only stick the goat once? I have gone to buy my tubes and needles but dont know what kind to buy. If someone could just tell me what gauge was appropriate and what the needles were called that would be awesome!

I use an 18 gauge x 1 inch needle and a 6 cc syringe to pull blood then tranfer it to my collection tubes.

If you're wanting a pregnancy test AND CAE, you can use a single blood sample. No need to stick the goat twice.

Mine is for johnes cl and cae and the lab asked for two 10 cc vials of blood so I was hoping to use only one stick to fill up two vials. Dont know what those needles are called, you know the ones where you can remove the bottom and replace it with another container.

Here you go...

I just got mine today. I got them because blood draws for cows are from the tail and it is easier to do with one hand with these!

I just get mine from biotracking. They send out a kit with the collection tubes, the double-ended needles, and the needle holder.
