Georigia Goat folks

Ive noticed a spurt in new goat owners from Ga on the forum.
If enough of you are interested in coming I would be glad to put together a goat day teaching pasture management and husbandry.
Also be aware of Georgia Dairy Goat Club, there are some pretty nice folks that are members if I can ever find the time I hope to go to a few of the meetings right now Im just a member.

We have four to five shows here in Monroe alone two to three boer shows and two dairy shows, there is also shows in Perry, Carrolton, and at the north Ga fairgrounds.

There is a large population of goats in the state, some of the top breeders and genetics can be found right in our backyards.

Uga offers free mastitis testing, Necropsy are $60

Anyone Georgia person who is interested or has questions about Linear Appraisal or DHI testing definitely needs to come to the GDGBA meeting on January 21 (directions may be found on the Georgia Dairy Goat Breeders Association Website). I will be doing a Q & A session on LA and DHI testing as well as DHI tester training.

Wish I lived closer or we had something like that here in Oklahoma. That sounds like a lot of fun and everyone can learn a new thing or two.

me or the group? dont think there is one for either, think you have to be a member to go to the club meeting but since I have been a member yet have never gone I dont know...

Now, if we want guest speakers on the farm such as my lovely goat vet since he wouldnt gain any clients I may have to give him a bill or two and that would be divided amongst the group but I really feel that we can cover everything here on the farm. Suggestions welcome.

I encourage everyone to go to the club meeting if possible, so much to be learned there.

The meeting is at Nancy's in Crawford. Here is the link to the website. They don't have directions posted yet, but will before the meeting.

Annual dues are $10 for an individual or $15 for a family.

If you are coming to the meeting, PM me your questions on DHI or LA by the 14th so I can do any necessary research. I am preparing a power point presentation.

Depending on my health, I'd like to go to yours.

I got Cookie. The others I got from you didn't have names. We got a total of 3 does and 1 buck from you. Cookie, Butterscotch and Taffy are the girls and Marshmellow the buck. Since we got them both Cookie and Butterscotch had 1 buck each, they were both pregnant when we got them.

There has been a change of venue. The meeting will be at the Latimer's in Watkinsville.
