about the CDT vaccine....

Bottle says use it all at once or discard after opening. I put mine back in the fridge for the less than a month between kid shots...is this ok or should I discard and buy a fresh bottle for the second shots?? I hate to waste it but if it isn't going to be good or is contaminated then I'll surely spend the 6 dollars for a fresh bottle...I used the same bottle and needle for all 6 goats as they all came from the same herd.

I've often used the same bottle 'til empty (but never the same needles!) Use care, and swab the rubber bottle stopper with alcohol, and you're good to go.

Using the same needle transfers germs/bacteria back into the bottle. I would toss that one and buy a new one. Use a clean needle to draw out meds EVERY time. I keep bottles til they're gone.

Ditto. Toss and get fresh. Do not reuse needles.

If you liston to some people they will use the same needle till it gets dull but a box of needle is only about 25 dollars, my wife is a nurse so she comes from the school of every one gets a new needle and that fine with me you can use the same syringe by just sticking a needle in the bottle and just drawing from it then putting a needle on or you can buy a combo box and use new needles.

I'll keep the CDT until empty, but I always use new, clean needles, & I clean the top with alcohol before drawing doses.

If you've put a dirty needle in it, or pulled doses without sterilizing the top prior to drawing, I'd toss it & get a new bottle.

Oh, I do reuse syringes. I clean well with soapy water, then soak in a dish of alcohol for a a few hours, then air dry on a paper towel. I toss syringes if the rubber stopper is worn, or if the markings fade.

I never reuse needles.
